What is the Best Budget Motel in San Francisco?

We are planning on going to San Francisco in November-- Thanksgiving week no less-- and are looking for the best economical deal we can get.

The Motel doesn't have to be anything fancy, just someplace that's clean and not in a ratty part of town. It can even be in the suburbs because we have to rent a car.

Thanks

You don't need a car in SF and I would advise you not to rent one until the day you will actually use it to go outside of the city. Parking is going to be expensive even if you find a cheap hotel. What is your budget for a hotel? This is not a very cheap city. Are you ok with private room accomodations at a hostel? Do you care what area you may be in? If you're not too picky about an area, you can use priceline.com and bid on a hotel to get a great rate for a motel price. First ready www.biddingfortravel.com to get tips on how to get the best value in SF.

Don't know what "budget motel" means to you, but we have stayed at this one at the edge of Chinatown that we consider quite reasonable for a clean room with FREE parking (http://www.royalpacificmotorinn.com). Lots of restaurants, Chinese and otherwise, close by.

Columbus Motor is a well known secret among the travel boards. Free covered parking for your car, right in SF, and public transportation near.

If you want a wonderful location AND a hostel with private rooms, try the one at Fort Mason.

It's listed as "Fisherman's Wharf Hostel", but is really in a much better location at Fort Mason. Free parking at Fort Mason!

Check out this website:
