And the dialog is so important.

Agree with MikeT's last statement- totally. In the South, I've seen some things that people don't talk about, that to me would be like ignoring that lump on your breast. Harsh example, but just as dangerous.

Good points, JJ5. The OP mentioned visiting or living in St. Louis. If I was going to live in a city, I would check it out in lots of ways that wouldn't necessarily be material to me if I was visiting for a weekend. Before I'd move somewhere, I'd want to know how my race and other races were perceived.

MikeT, you're probably right. But even that is something to consider if you're thinking about moving somewhere.

With all that said, I could use some good Italian food from the Hill right now!

What is St. Louis like?
It's quite similar to St. Louise, after a gender reassignment.

The only time I've ever been in St. Louis was once when I changed planes there. It was winter and I was struck by the number of women who were wearing full-length fur coats at the airport.

That's my one and only impression of St. Louis.

I have lived in the the St. Louis area all my life. I'm fairly young (26) but I really enjoy it. There is a surprising amount of things to do here, and some great neighborhoods. While downtown can be rather bland, especially when compared to other, livelier cities, it has gotten better. Washington Street is very up-and-coming, and for the first time in years more people are moving in the city instead of out of it.

missypie, hello from a fellow Illinois-er! I lived in Belleville for a few years when I was younger. My husband and I now live in Glen Carbon, not far from SIUE.
