Cedar Point, which our kids enjoyed at all ages, is on a peninsula, with an excellent beach. There is a hotel, I think it is called the Breakers, adjacent to the amusement park, and I think it has been recently renovated. We haven't stayed there in years so I don't know the cost (we sailed up there and docked for a week and lived on the boat). There is a water slide park immediately adjacent to the park, and our kids liked that also; more than the beach.
If you are interested in that, look into buying season passes. When we last went, the season pass cost about the same as three individual days' admissions, and we got seven days with four essentially free. Food in the park is typical amusement park fare, but there are a few cafeterias, and I don't know what the hotel offers. A few years ago the food at the marina steakhouse immediately outside the park was not bad.

Ok, I've lived in Cleveland my entire life (56) years and as much as I travel it's nice to come home to Cleveland. We have a wonderful park system that surrounds our city with beautiful trees(The Emerald Necklace) which includes bike and walking trails and exercise equipment stops. We have some great restuarants (believe me I love to eat out). One of the nicest zoos in the country, Cedar Point and the surrounding area which includes Marblehead, Catawba, Put-in-Bay, Kelley's Island, some local wineries, Rock and Roll Hall of fame, the West Side Market, etc. We are are an ethnic blend of people and our city reflects our heritages. We may not be New York or L.A. but you won't find a Marc's Discount drug store in any of those cities and I've never seen anything like it in any other city. A glass of wine doesn't cost you 8 or 9 dollars. Just don't come in winter, I too have had enough of that this year. It doesn't take us 2 hours each way to get to work either. Come and visit, you may be pleasantly surprised.

Hey Duh I just read your 2nd post and I am LMAO! Strict zoning, yea right! What do you call that mess on Sand Rd. and NW Catawba Rd? Real strict zoning there. And SR 53? Look at that tacky hotel with pole barn and junkyard next to Barnes Nursery. Almost forgot about all the mobile home parks on Catawba including the tacky ones on Catawba Point. Where else can you find million dollar homes next to mobile homes from the late 60's? As for your wonderful Catawba peaches, most of them are shipped in from elsewhere. The freeze a couple of years ago in the spring about killed all the peach trees off. Ask any fruit stand owner and they will tell you the truth. You really are AR.
