Next year we are going to be a bunch of people, I am coming to the conclusion that the Radio City Apartments recommended by SusieQQ seems to be within our budget.
They charge for the two bedroom $ 362 with taxes, that will take care of my daughter and family, and we should take a simple studio or room that is$ 215.
I looked in tripadvisor and the reports are very good. I believe the quality of decoration etc
is a under the Affinia group but it seems they would be more expensive.
Has anyone in this forum stayed in the Radio City?
Is location ok ? Things have changed so much in NY since we lived there that I would love any comments from present newyorkers in relation with location.
It is the children 's first NY visit, that they are ready and eager to go to the usual places.
We shall stay home with the baby or others as needed.
Being NY as expensive as it is now, I guess the Radio City seems reasonable. We prefer a
hotel because of service and the possibility to cancel if we should. They have 48 hours cancelation policy which is very good.

The location of Radio City Apartments couldn;t be better. They were redone not too long ago - and while generally more basic than Affinia hotels they should be fine. I would just double check the baths - I think the 2 bedroom suite may have only one bath. But for so much roon in July that's a great price.

I have actually stayed in Radio City apts. and while it gets raves, I don't love it. I suppose it's good value for the 2 bedroom suite (although nytraveler is correct, only 1 bathroom) but if you add the prices of the 2 suites together, you're talking about spending almost $600/night ($577 plus tax which is ~ 15%) for 2 suites in a BUDGET hotel in July which is usually low season for hotels in NYC. For that price you can probably get something gorgeous in a nicer hotel. It may be too early to see "deals" for July at this point. You're really just looking at rack rates. What are the exact dates you're looking at?

PS I just checked the Eastgate Towers, one of the cheapest Affinia hotels. Their 2 bedroom suites have 2 bathrooms and the price for the 2 bedroom was under $300/night at the beginning of July. I've seen specials on it under $250/night. If you're coming at the end when UK school hols are, the price might be more.

Dates have changed they are coming on May 23 Sunday leaving May 31, that is 8 nights. Now they have the tickets.
I am going to check the Affinia possibility. The prices quoted by Radio City includes taxes.

mclaurie I get your point and thank you for letting me know. I understand that the
Affinia 's will be a step forward in quality which is important. We would need only a double room for us, I do not see us all together because it would be a lack of privacy for them and for us. They can all be together in anyway, it is one family. It would be a holiday, a holiday to cherish I hope and we cannot spoil it being all together in a way that would be a tot too much.
I love our grandchildren and they are well behaved children that even for their young age have traveled and like to read, and learn. So it will a great treat for them to visit places like the Natural History Museum and Met and they will be, I am sure, amazed with New York City. Thank you again.

It just dawned on me -- I think it was called "Manhattan East Suites" - at least the Shelburne Murray Hill and the Dumont Plaza were part of that group. If you google Manhattan East Suites, the link takes you to the Affinia site now.
