What Hyatt is best?
 

I've randomly won a free night in any Hyatt worldwide! Yay!

Can someone help me with the Hyatt brands? Is Park considered the best/most luxurious, followed by Grand and then Regency? Or is there some other order that is best to search.

Grand is the best. Our favorite is the Grand Hyatt in Kauai. Do you have to pay your own airfare to get there? Rates are reasonable now from the west coast.

Grand Hyatt Kauai is one of the prettiest Hyatt's out there..
If you can wait, go with starrs suggestion of Curacao..

Love the Hyatt, it's our favorite. Here's a few of my favorites: Yes, Hyatt in Kauai & Maui are beautiful. Great pools & locations.
Hyatt in Carmel, CA is on a cliff over the ocean, beautiful!
Hyatt in BeaverCreek, Colorado was spectacular over Christmas! Ski in ski out, they warm your boots. It was so nice. Rooms are about $1000 a nite over the holidays, might want to cash it in this winter! Hyatt in Scottsdale, AZ is beautiful and fun---lots of palm trees, great bar & pool area.
There is a Hyatt in Aspen, but I haven't been to that one.
There is a Hyatt in Key West Florida I've been looking into.
Also the Hyatt on Lake Tahoe with the casino looks really fun. I've been to Tahoe but never stayed in Incline. Enjoy chosing your stay, you can't go wrong no matter what you pick!

Park Hyatts are the best, followed by Grands (or some Grands anyway, not all). Both Paris Hyatts would be Park Hyatts if they were in the US. Both are absolutely gorgeous, small hotels. We've stayed in the Madeleine a couple of times, but visited Vendome as well. We walked everywhere from Madeleine, and Vendome is even more convenient and more centrally located. If you can't get into Vendome, (availability, it's small and often full) then I'd take Madeleine in the blink of an eye.

Stateside, the resorts are all wonderful, but Kauai perhaps best of all...not necessarily the hotel, but the location. Tahoe has had a fairly recent renovation and they have cabins lakeside which would be wonderful. There's one in South Beach that is so exclusive they haven't even named it Hyatt--the Hotel Victor. Or would you rather San Francisco, NY or Chicago?? :) What a wonderful dilemma!

Is this just for one night? Then I'd go somewhere I could stay cheaply but nicely for the other nights - if you can't afford Hyatt rates. Paris would be good because you could move to a nice 2*.

That is, if you choose a placw where you have to fly a long way to get to.

I don't remember the exact name, but the Hyatt on Kanaapali Beach in Maui is fabulous!

Just thought of two more worth considering--both in Argentina. Park Hyatt Mendoza or Park Hyatt Buenos Aires, in Recoleta section of town. Both are beautiful old buildings and I hear both are fabulous...but have never stayed myself. (My DH is a Hyatt employee so between the areas we've lived in, those we've visited, and word of mouth, I'm sort of familiar with the brand. :) )

With only one night free, starrs has a good point. Madeleine and Vendome are both tres cher!!

One free night?

That isn't really much of a prize if you consider the cost of the other nights that you'll stay there.

Sort of a scam to me. I think they always have specials like 5th night for free if you stay 4 nights. So, your "free night" is just their customary discount.

4th night free is a Hyatt resort (primarily) promo called Sunshine on Sale--not always available and not at all resorts. There is one currently running that expires in June and covers only 19 hotels. You won't get it in Paris, unfortunately, but if they did, it'd cost JoeTro about $1,200 to spend the 3 nights to get the 4th free! With his prize, he need not stay another night other than his free one. Doesn't sound like a scam to me....

OO, I've been to The Hotel Victor a couple of times and it is quite swank. Have you been?

They have the coolest jellyfish tank. It is often if episodes of Burn Notice.

The pool deck is rather chi chi itself as are the public rooms.

I like that it is South Beach cool without being all white. Lots of color.

Thanks, guys. I'm generally a budget traveler, so the idea of say, Paris, is nice, because I could move to 2 stars the rest of the time. I'd only have to stay in the Hyatt the one free night, and I would want to move to cheaper lodgings regardless. And, I could combine it with visiting friends in London. But, if i wanted to stay closer to home, Chicago or NY could be fun, as could Hawaii (never been!).

I'm sure you probably have thought of this, but I would save the Hyatt free night as your LAST NIGHT of your vacation, not the first. There's nothing more depressing than going downscale from a 5* hotel to a 2* hotel on the same trip... while the reverse is always a nice welcome.
