What Happened?

I went away for a few weeks and I get back and it looks like there are fewer posts per day than before. Has anyone else noticed this? What gives?

Fodor's made changes to the site and now FL, HI and CA have been split-off into their own separate forums.

Go to fodors.com/forums to see the menu

I'm getting more disillusioned with this site daily. I think others - like me - just find it too much trouble to go to several sites to get the same information that used to be available right here. I've tried using the Florida board, but it's not getting much activity either. I wish we could go back to the old board.

I don't think it has anything to do with the format. I noticed this scarcity weeks before the format change. I have observed that the best and most experienced travelers/ posters have suffered repeated attacks of narrow minded and judgmental flip insults for their "trouble." Pearls before swine. Also some tentative posters, seeing these results are probably a lot less apt to post once in a while now. Maybe they are wise enough not to want to get their head handed to them for expressing their own honest opinions.

Perhaps if people just posted responses to questions instead of commenting upon and dissecting everyone else's offerings, some actual information could be exchanged. It seems that every time a question is posted, someone offers an opinion, and someone else disagrees with that, but instead of supporting their arguments with facts, they attack the people who wrote it.

Calling others narrow-minded and judgemental is another example of this. Are those just the people with whom you disagree, or is it anyone who dares to express an opinion contrary to the prevailing one?

Here's a thought....perhaps some people are actually traveling instead of just arguing about it on this board.

Well, the old format has been restored.
