Dumb Husband (I think) ((a)) ((b))

MikePinTucson Oct 20th, 2005 08:48 AM

Hey! I thought it meant Dear husband.

BTW -- what does GTG stand for?

crazy4Hawaii Oct 20th, 2005 08:51 AM

Or maybe "darling husband". Anyway it refers to hubby.

ahhnold Oct 20th, 2005 08:52 AM

The vomit inducing way of writing "dear Husband".

Or "dickhead" in some cases.

Wednesday Oct 20th, 2005 08:52 AM

I thought GTG was "Get together" but I could be wrong...

Emucom Oct 20th, 2005 08:59 AM

Thanks for clearing that up. I think GTG stands for "good to go".

crazy4Hawaii Oct 20th, 2005 09:02 AM

GTG usually means get-together on the Hawaii threads...

utahtea Oct 20th, 2005 09:09 AM

For me, "DH" means Dear Husband, because that's what he is.

DS = Dear Son
DD = Dear Daughter

Budman Oct 20th, 2005 09:13 AM

ahhnold, is there something in the water up there in MA. ((a)) ((b))

123Go Oct 20th, 2005 09:25 AM

GTG is Get Together.
Several "regular" Fodorites plan Get Togethers in various cities to meet, mingle and share info and experiences.

The Asia board had one in Cambridge MA last weekend.

Budman Oct 20th, 2005 09:37 AM

You forgot -- and to eat good food and to drink good wine. ((a)) ((b))

IMHO, my DH, DD, DS, DIL and SIL, not to mention my MIL and FIL will not want to drive to the NYC/NJ GTG because we live in CDA and will have to fly from YYZ. BTW, I will LOL or even be ROTFL as I think of U there.

peeky Oct 20th, 2005 09:48 AM

No one who knows me had better not refer to me in some dumb D_ .

Just say the person's name for pete's sake or make up a name as lovely as Peeky.

It is the dumbing down of America unless you are European then it is their dumbing down too. Fight it while you can ladies and gentlemen.

peeky Oct 20th, 2005 09:50 AM

How did you like my first sentence? Any English teachers out there itching to grade me?

gyppielou Oct 20th, 2005 09:52 AM

DH = Desperate Housewives! or Demon Heretic? One thing I do know is I will never refer to mrlou as DH, and he will never refer to me as "the wife" To each their own! LOL That's "lots of laughs" if you didn't learn that at the GTG. By the way, what does BTW mean?

hdm Oct 20th, 2005 09:56 AM

Really? I though lol meant 'laugh out loud' or 'laughing out loud'.

I was so disappointed when my niece told me that. She used to pepper her e-mails to me with lol and I thought it meant lots of love!

bonniebroad Oct 20th, 2005 09:58 AM

All you DF's!!! ;;) You're cracking me up ... :-d

gyppielou Oct 20th, 2005 10:12 AM

Well then Lots Of Love to all capitalized letters out there, however we interpret them!

ahhnold Oct 20th, 2005 11:42 AM

Budman....The only thing in my water is an occasional single Malt Scotch.

Keith Oct 20th, 2005 12:13 PM

I thought it was designated husband.

It kind of makes me ill. It's like a food forum I frequent when someone asks, "What's for Brekkies?" meaning breakfast.

I wonder if there's a certain demographic that uses the term DH.

JJ5 Oct 20th, 2005 12:23 PM

For the longest time I couldn't figure out SO. Then I deduced it was Significant Other. But I still call my guy- my guy or my friend because that is what he is. For a fact I have too many SO's in my life to make one THE. And a boyfriend is not 60.

One time I typed about my DIL and I could tell that the answering person thought that the DIL was an animal or pet of some kind. LOL!

leelane911 Oct 20th, 2005 12:35 PM

If you are such a bitchy person that it truly bothers you for others to use an abbreviation, you should think about getting some help.

gyppielou Oct 20th, 2005 12:38 PM

Never attack a person that ends their post with LOL....they are sending a message with those 3 letters

ronkala Oct 20th, 2005 12:51 PM

Bonnirbroad;
Dumb what?

faithie Oct 20th, 2005 01:28 PM

Well ..... I just had a long day , a 9 yr. old in tears , a case of bullying at school ,a 7 yr. old brother teasing her , me plugging my ears , my DH is on a nightshift , so this lighthearted thread is just the right medicine !! lol , I loves it !!( and I do believe I have surpassed 4 posts today , should I call Dr. Phil ? !! ) ( especially since I opened my Friday night Merlot to go with the frozen pizza !!! ) Yikes !

faithie Oct 20th, 2005 01:35 PM

Oh ! See " Are some posters for real " thread if I confuse .... ( smiley face ) Do they give courses for the computer illiterate for those icons ?

china_cat Oct 20th, 2005 02:02 PM

you mean it doesn't mean Designated Hitter? and I thought lots of you folks were travelling with David Ortiz, or Edgar Martinez...

GoTravel Oct 20th, 2005 02:37 PM

Diet Hell

pattajc Oct 20th, 2005 03:12 PM

GTG is "got to go". Check out netlingo.com for acronyms.
