What does"refreshment" meal mean on Delta flights?
 

Nothing to get excited about I am sure, but what would this consist of? This flight is long enough to go past beverage but not all the way to meal! Flight is over the dinner hour going, and over breakfast time coming back.

I would take that to mean refreshment (beverage) and accompanying nibble (chips, pretzels, etc.).

I'd take it to mean: "If you think you'll be hungry, better bring your own food".

a tiny bag of mini pretzels. Enough to feed the airplane mice.

Refreshment Meal is code for the smallest package of crunchies possible along with your favorite beverage in a dixie cup.

It means the beverage cart.

I would definitely pack your own sandwich(es) regardless of what meal time is should be.

If you ask the airline they will tell you for sure.

How about a moratorium on telling posters to go to "the source" instead of here? What people like bwhewitt are looking for is a few people's personal experience and not 5-20 minutes on hold to Delta-in-India, only to be told "it will be a snack and a beverage."

It'll be as jorr describes it, and I always bring something I bought in the terminal if I actually need a meal.

I just flew Delta from Salt Lake to Orlando and what we got was a wrapped package that said ENJOY ! in huge letters on it, and inside was 2 packs of crackers (4 crackers total) Spreadable cheese, box of raisins, and a pack of 2 Oreo cookies. I brought a Luna bar to sustain....

Cassandra--I meant no disrespect to the poster but rather this is a query that is a matter of fact and not opinion. Fodorites can offer many opinions, or examples of their own experience, as Wednesday did. But generally they are not the final source for things that are matters of fact...

Calling "India" is not the only option. The poster can also access the Delta website....I am quite sure that meal/food service issues would be covered on the website...and thus is a much more efficient source than many people's well-intentioned opinions of what this term means when used by Delta Airlines.

All that is TMI, and just corporate blahblah if all bwhewitt wanted to know was, what did I get offered on my last Delta flight. Answer: they were out of everything but the frosted granola bars (which were littler than what you get in the supermarket) and apple juice, Coke, or purchased wine (which just goes so well with a strawberry granola bar).

flew delta from vegas to atlanta on sunday. we were supposed to get 2 "beverage services". at the start of the first, the pilot received notice of upcoming turbulence so ordered everyone to sit down. this lasted for an hour (no real turbulence occurred). so we only got one service.

drink--they were only giving 1/2 cans of soda but when i asked for the whole can i got it without issue.
"snack pack" consisting of what someone mentioned above--2 crackers, spreadable processed cheese, small box of raisins and 2 oreo cookies.

i assume the second service would have consisted of what we had on our second flight from atlanta to baltimore. drink and a choice of small snack like sun chips, animal crackers, pretzels, etc.

certainly not gourmet nor tasty and definitely not filling!

Mmmmmm, my favorite..."La Petite Fromage." It translates into "Unknown substance which fell from the sky and is often used as a suitable caulking alternative."

HI Cassandra--this will really be my last post on this subject--esp as we are leaving for LA in the am....the OP did not ask about what peoples' experience had been, but rather what Delta meant by this terminology. If you think telling her what Delta means (via their own website) is TMI, well then I really do not know how to reason w/you. One of my concerns in today's world is the blurring of the lines of facts vs opinions. As I understood it, the OP was asking for a fact--Delta's definition of snack-- and so I responded, provididng her w/a resource for finding out, and then consulting that resource myself. As far as I could see, he/she did not ask you what they may or may not have ran out of on your last flight....We are just not going to see eye to eye on this....

socialworker, yesterday I HAD to call "India". Delta's Sky Miles flights can not be booked or changed online. I had a very hard time understanding the person. He was very nice and also patient but I had to keep on asking him to repeat things like sentences, numbers, and dates. The call took a very long time to complete because of this. After completing the call I dialed a different toll free number to confirm that everything was correct because I wasn't sure it it was communicated correctly.

Everyone including me has an "accent". Mine is half Texan and half Norweigan. But airlines need to have people on the phones who are more easy for the average person to understand.

all the fretting can easily be avoided... to me it doesn't matter what Delta's terms mean in theory.

i would never board a long flight in this day and age without my own food and a bottle of water. just buy a sandwich at the airport before you board. it's no big deal.

Oh, the joy of the Delta "Enjoy" snack! The processed cheeselike goo, the two salty crackers the size of a postage stamp, (OK, they were the size of a comemmorative stamp, I'll give 'em that), the pair of mini-Oreos, and, of course, some raisins for health. I saved the tiny box of raisins as a souvenir -- at home it weighed 1/2 oz, box included.

So, the "Enjoy" has all the major food groups: Salty, gooey, sugary, healthy, and cheesy.

Bring any food you want, 'cause that's all you'll get. Then repeat to yourself: "The plane is now the bus. The plane is now the bus. The plane ..."

Wednesday and AJ were correct--it was the "ENJOY" pack both trips, exactly as described by Wed. Yes, we always travel with a sandwich now!

socialworker, welcome back from LA. How would OP <i>get</i> the information re: what Delta means by its terminology (as discovered on website) unless provided by those of us who have experienced what an &quot;Enjoy&quot; snack really is? This wasn't a matter of telling someone how to fish instead of giving them a fish -- it was a matter of being helpful instead of telling people to do what they may have already done or to go get information that would still beg their original question.

To be honest, this thing has gotten more complicated than actual flight lessons!!
