Thanks for the info (LW) too!

Though I mean Dear Husband when I use it our fodors friend, Kal, once commented that it could be the not so nice version of Richard Cranium. Of course my kids love this and it sounds better than the alternate meaning of DH.

GoTravel Sep 13th, 2004 06:27 AM

It makes me crazy. I'd rather just type out husband.

Scarlett Sep 13th, 2004 06:44 AM

LOL, GoTravel, I just call mine The Yankee :D

tpatricco Sep 13th, 2004 07:50 AM

At first, I thought it stood for Dead Husband! :"> Since that didn't make sense, I had to look it up too!

sunnybrook31 Sep 13th, 2004 08:07 AM

My sister types is so much that for the longest time I thought it meant "damn husband"....cuz that is, after all, what she calls him to his face.

sunnybrook31 Sep 13th, 2004 08:08 AM

That's what I get for not previewing.
I meant to say: My sister types "it" so much.....

AnnaR Sep 13th, 2004 08:40 AM

joesource: funny!! sometimes it can seem that way:-D

FainaAgain Sep 13th, 2004 08:46 AM

My husband has lost his D, I'm offering a tip to anybody who finds it.

AHaugeto Sep 13th, 2004 09:09 AM

Faina, he's not playing Defense? That's a GOOD thing, darlin'!

Dave_ Sep 13th, 2004 09:52 AM

According to the internet acronyms dictionary I look at for these abbreviations I don't now, there are a number of options:

Dear Husband
Dick Head
Dumb Hubby
Dear Hubby
Deaf Hubby

Given these cover both ends of the complimenary scale, it's often best avoided. Why don't people just type husband?

It looks odd when people write things like "...then DH checked the guidebook..." or whatever, when all they mean is husband and has nothing to do with being dear.

ronpal Sep 13th, 2004 09:56 AM

I just wish I could find a DH. Dorky or Dear!

JackOneill Sep 13th, 2004 10:02 AM

I'm with you, Dave.

This is probably how the fall of the Roman Empire started. That and emoticons.

clarkgriswold Sep 13th, 2004 11:13 AM

Designated hitter.

After reading this post, I think the best bet is that the H is usually always "husband" but the D has to be read in context to figure out what the poster's intent is!

2ndtimer Sep 13th, 2004 11:28 AM

The H is sometimes Honey.

seetheworld Sep 13th, 2004 11:37 AM

This is too funny :) In my case it is "Da Husband"...like "Da Bronx", which by the way, is where the husband was born and raised. But he can be a dear or a darlin every now and again!

dcespedes Sep 13th, 2004 11:51 AM

'da ho....I mean, Don Ho??? ;)

travelinandgolfin Sep 13th, 2004 12:33 PM

Richard Cranium.....hehe....good one!

I must say, this popped into my mind before Dear Husband....
