Wow...there are some high minimums floating around here.

I can enjoy 2 sheets.
I can live without an ironing board, in fact I prefer it.
I can be comfortable without AC in the right location, even TV or a phone for that matter.
I like my coffee in the room but I can go down the street (which I don't mind looking out my window at).
Internet connection?....Please spare me.
Gimme a bed, bathroom and a honkey tonk woman! I'm a happy guy.

LESS Soundproofing .... I like to hear the newlywed couple in the next room. It's better than pay-per-view.

Clean, clean, clean.........

A fitted mattress pad that doesn't ball up under the sheet!

Extra pillows, and CLEAN blankets

AC/Heating units that actually work properly! (No waking up frozen or baked at 3:00 a.m.)

Good, freshly brewed coffee in the lobby 24/7. (I don't want to use the in-room coffeemaker. I don't like my room to smell totally like coffee!)

Oh, bonniebroad, you've reminded me with that mattress pad thing about one of my biggest complaints.
Who ever taught all those maids to make the beds by tucking in both sheets all the way under the mattress? It is impossible to get into bed without pulling out the top sheet, the bottom one comes with it, and I have to spend 10 minutes remaking the bed before I can get into it.

Patrick, you're not alone! Jerry Seinfeld had a lengthy discussion on his show: to tuck or not to tuck!

NO SMELL.

There's a certain odor that some hotels have. Hard to describe. Sometimes I think it's the cleaner products they use. But that odor makes me a bit nauceous.

manfromnantucket: I laughed out loud!!!
I like a clean and QUIET room. I love the luxuries like down comforters, large baths, room to walk around the room, mini fridge, etc.. A good mattress with soft pillows. I hate pillows like rocks. and of course a fabulous view is a nice touch...

The room i had at the JW Marriot in NW Vegas was nice in that it had a seperate walk-in closet! Great for putting suitcases, bags, etc; keeping the room clutter free.

Even at the Venetian things can be irritating...thank God for fax machines---so that I could recieve someone elses' five pages fax at 5 AM! Then the alarm went off a 7 AM and I never could figure out how to turn the stupid thing OFF. No one should be awake at 5 AM in Vegas unless, I'm with George Clooney and Dennis...oops, I mean just George and the Dom is still cold....

DircTV television.
Free parking.
Info brochures.
AC units that hum. Yes hum.
Bedspreads without DNA on them.

Need:
* Enough towels, etc. for the number of people registered in the room.
* A plug in the tub so I can take a bath.
* No cigarette smoke smell.
* Hair dryer
* Iron.
* A clean room and linens, absolute must.

Would like:
* Smaller mirrors in the bathroom
* Not everyone drinks coffee, need tea bags.
* A TV remote with a sleep timer.

Rip off:
If I don't use the phone don't charge me for the privelage of having one in the room.

Why:
Why don't hotels have fitted sheets? I hate having a flat sheet on the bottom that doesn't stay there during the night.

Most absurd thing I had in a hotel room - phone and TV in the bathroom.

Oh for God's sake I forgot one thing.

Curtains which close all the way so that guy in Joplin Missouri can't watch me.

Here is an idea!

Pack into your suitcase 2
potato chip bag clips.
Use them on your curtains to make sure that guy in Joplin, MO. can't see you watching Tv in your PJ's.

100 watt light bulb beside the bed.

A well-placed lamp, so that I don't have to take a waste basket, turn it upside down, place it on a chair, and put the lamp on top so I can read in bed.

A television set with a decent picture.

A remote control for the televison, and that remote control should not be bolted to a table.

Alvira, you said, "If I don't use the phone don't charge me for the privilege of having one in the room." -- What does this mean? What hotel(s)? I've stayed in lots of hotels and never, to my knowledge, encounted a phone charge that was not based, in some way, on use. I have occasionally been hit with an "energy surcharge"; and when I have, I have made enough noise to have it waived.

One item not mentioned (but frequently encountered) is slow tub or shower drainage. I really do dislike a slow-draining tub where you end up ankle-deep in water while taking a shower.
