If you're going to post a long trip report, post it in stages. That way, more people seem to read it

1) it comes up as new post each time you add a segment, catching more people's attention

2) it won't seem so long to readers if they read it as each new segment comes up.

I recently posted a very long report on my trip to Europe last year. As I cut and pasted from the emails I wrote during the trip, the whole report was posted over several hours. I know one person read it as he posted a response, but I doubt that many others would have read it as it was a lot of report all at once.

I like the people who take the time to THANK the poster for the hard work they put into it.

1. There is an old saying, "I would have written a shorter lettter but I did not have the time."

Accordingly, write, was interesting, unexpected, dramatic, extremely interesting or disappointing do not include every painful detail.

Exclude all plane inforamtion unless extraordinary and a plane delay, lost luggage, and a rude employee are not extraordianry.

Avoid meaningless words like "awesome", "yummy", and "yummo." Be instructive.

2. Wit is always appreciated.

3. Candor is appreciated but with a context. If you did not like the Louvre state that as a child a replica of Winged Victory fell on you and you have never recovered.

4. Before you go, do your homework. Do not become surly becasue you did not know you could not get a pastrami sandwich in rural Finland.

4. Correcting the spelling of others is the last bastion of an banausic vapid crtiic. Yes, try to use spell czech but the content is what is important.

5. Write in your own style not in what you think is the correct style.

Maybe there should a rating system.

AR-Anal Retentive. All facts relevent and otherwise will be included in this report.

KN-I knew nothing before I went and less when I returned.

JT-Joyful Travler-Thoroughly loves the experience of traveling and tries to convey that setiment.

TP-Travel Predator-Just visits as many countries as possible for bragging rights.
