What do do with in Santa Barbara
Hello!
I am planning on taking my eleven year old niece to Santa Barbara this Sunday. What is there for kids to do? Is there anywhere else nearby that might be more fun -- have more to do for an eleven year old? |
I think the zoo is great fun for a couple of hours.

Check out the botanical gardens. That's usually something I don't do when I'm travelling, but I went to Santa Barbara's and really enjoyed it. There were lots of kids there and they seemed to be having fun. Take a hike. Check out Rattlesnake Canyon. Despite the seemingly off-putting name, it's a great hike that leads you up into the foothills for some great scenery. Have fun. |
Of course, there is the beach. Bring a picnic lunch, a ball to play catch and get some sand between the toes, and a sweatshirt may be necessary.
On Sundays, there are Arts and Crafts shows along the sidewalk of the beach. Stearns Wharf - watch fishermen, windsurfers, usual shops, ice cream or lunch. Or, a whale watching cruise - www.condorcruises.com $35 adults/$18 for children. There is the original Sambos (too young, perhaps). The huge Moreton Bay Fig Tree by the Amtrak Station, planted in 1876. There is the electric trolley from the wharf going up State Street for shopping (maybe 25 cents) --pick up a tourist map for other sites that have been previously posted. Spending the day with "auntie" will be a highlight in itself! |
Best place to find do do is at the zoo.

Hi.
Across the street from Stearns Wharf (on State St) there is a shop that rents bikes, and also the "Surrey" type bike...Lots of fun! Its always a favorite with my nieces and nephews! |
