We had an epic, 21 day National Park summer vacation. Started and finished in Denver. Put 4,032 miles on rental car:)Rocky Mountain NP, Grand Teton, Yellowstone, Canyonlands, Arches, Capitol Reef, Bryce, Zion, Grand Canyon, Mesa Verde, Monument Valley. Loved every single moment of it. I am still writing the Trip Report - hopefully soon to be ready:) Even the 11yr old had a great time (rock climbing, whitewater rafting, balloning, horseback riding...)

Took some recovering after we came back home! Ready to do it again :)

Summer's over already!

After spending a relaxing 2 weeks in St. John, USVI in May, we returned home and spend the rest of the summer at Patricco Home Improvement Camp in Union, NJ where we honed our landscaping, hobby car repair & construction skills...

A fun summer regardless. ((#))

What wonderful replies!! I must say, Patrick's summer wins my personal Dream Travel Award, although I have a sneaking suspicion my stamina wouldn't hold out for that much travel...but hey, I'd love to give it a shot!

In May we flew to South Carolina to visit Grandson for his 1st Birthday. We spent two weeks in the area and also went to Georgia & North Carolina to visit waterfalls and have picnics.

In August when Grandson was visiting the west, we all took a two week vacation to Zion National Park, Bryce National Park and Capitol Reef National Park.

Summer might be over but vacations aren't! In October we are going to Yosemite for 5 days.

I went to Florida in February, Vegas in April, Vail in July and Traverse City, Michigan in August. Had big fun on each trip and especially enjoyed our first trip to Vail to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary.

We don't have anything else planned until we go on a cruise in February, 2005.

We used up the rest of dh's vacation days in April when the two of us went to New Zealand.

Since we home school, and since dh's work schedule really gets busy in the summer, we try to travel in the fall or spring when most kids are in school and prices are lower.

Spent a week visiting my boyfriend's family in Kalispell, MT. Three weeks of camping Northern Germany. And a long weekend in Yellowstone with my bf's parents before school started.

We spent most of the summer on the Oregon Coast. We were remodeling a beach cottage in Seaside, OR so the days were long with work (12 hrs.) but we completed it and it is fully furnished and looks gorgeous.

This was a family project, so we had our entire family and my BIL and his two young sons with us. The evenings were full of food and fun, and we took Sundays off to go to the beach, explore, etc.

We also went back a second time with DD and DS and his fiance. We showed her around Oregon for the first time, she loved it. They are looking for homes to move there once they're married. (Beaverton/Portland area.)

We also enjoyed time up at Huntington Lake where we have a condo. It was beautiful. We swam, kayaked, hiked and ate out at the great Lakeshore Resort.

We also spent a couple of days in Carmel/Big Sur to celebrate a birthday recently. I'm alwasy sad to see summer go, it's my favorite time of year. I want every day to be a beach day! LOL ***kim***

Our summer began with a couple of nights in NYC enjoying theater, dining, and Central Park.

Our oldest son explored London and Paris while we anxiously awaited his return. He received valuable advice from this forum.

Mid-summer the husband and I celebrated our 25th anniversary with a weeks stay in Bermuda.

We finished our summer with a one-week family vacation to Chicago.

While we are always sad when summer ends, we look forward to dreaming and planning future trips (possibly Hawaii and most probably the UK to visit family). What always keeps us going are the little jaunts to visit the kids at college and enjoying the outdoor spa when the weather starts getting nippy :-D

Oh boy, my favorite topic!

For me it was sitting on a plane next to Spike Lee bound for Rome, enjoying the Amalfi coast on the water, in the water, looking at the water, and getting the first tan I've had practically since high school! Then there was Paris . . . !

Wow, I can't believe the summer everyone had. Sounds wonderful!

Went to Vegas for a weekend, although I don't usually think of Vegas as a vacation trip since we go several times a year. But, the big summer trip was taking my daughter to Thailand for 17-days for her high school graduation gift -- just the two of us. It was great and I can't wait to be able to afford another big trip.

My husband and I and his oldest daughter and my daughter, SIL, and 10-year-old grandson went to Oahu in June. We had such a good time. Grandson adored it and wants to move there.

My whole family (26 of us) go somewhere to be together over Labor Day weekend each year, and this year we went back to our roots in central KY, ate, laughed, played games, laughed some more, and watched the newest baby try to crawl on hardwood floors in his silky pajamas where his knees kept sliding out from under him. It's the simple things, right?

Daughter and I are going to London for a week the first of October. That is becoming a fall ritual for us. We both love it, and the to-do list just keeps getting longer.

Then DH and I are going to Israel with a group from our church in November. He doesn't love travel the way I do (mostly likes his trips better after he gets home and starts to tell people about them), but this is his dream trip and we are really excited about it.

We watched our kitchen be remodeled and then enjoyed it. But, we also went to Kauai for a wonderful week in the sun.

I had a lovely two weeks in Peru, first in the Andes region (Cusco, Machu Picchu) and then in lodges in the Amazon. It was amazing, terrific, and too short! I had been working up until I left, and school started August 23rd; I got back on the 17th. Someday I'll figure out how to be independently wealthy! :)

I got married and spent 2 amazing weeks in Hawaii...I've always liked to go and experience new places, but I think I am addicted to Hawaii now!

With moving and buying a new home this spring, we stayed close to home this summer. Luckily we are in the PNW so we spent lots of time hiking, backpacking, and climbing! Spent time at the coast, central Oregon, and Seattle.
