What Christmas sights in NYC?
We'll be in NYC over Christmas. Other than Macy's, Rockefeller Center and FAO Schwartz, what other places does anyone suggest for great Christmas decorations?

You must walk up Fifth Ave from 38th to 57 to see all the major shop windows. And don;t miss St Pat's.
Also - antique neapolitan tree and creche at the Met Origami tree at Nat'l History Museum Nutcracker at Lincoln Center Look at New York magazine and Time Out New York for special musical and other events about a month before |
I was in NYC for Christmas 2 years ago and it was magical.
Do walk all along 5th Avenue , as mentioned. I went to Radio City Music Hall on Christmas day and it was wonderful. |
The laser light show at Grand Central Station. I think it starts over about every 30 minutes. Very cool. Here's a youtube clip that will give you an idea, but of course, it's much better live. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zHd177nBAsU

It is well worth walking in Central Park at that time of year. It is very beautiful in the wintertime, as the starkness of the bare trees contrasts wonderfully with the city lights, especially at dusk. The skating rink is cheaper and less crowded than the one in Rockefeller Center, and the zoo is not to be missed in winter. Watch the Polar Bears frolic! If the carousel is running that is fun too, if chilly. The creche at the Met is an absolute must.

NYtraveler mentioned the tree at the Met Museum. It is elegant.

I liked Little Italy the last couple times I went to NY for X-mas/New years. It wasnt anything crazy, but they had lights across the streets and it just looked nice. Plus you can get a great meal, so theres actually a reason to venture there.
