What Chicago Hotels Have You Booked w/ Hotwire?

Since there is not a good message board for Hotwire, I was hoping that we could all help each other out here. If you have used hotwire to book a room in Chicago, could you list the date of your stay, your hotel, the star rating (according to HW) and the price you paid/per night? Let's see how this goes . . .thanks!

Have you tried Priceline? Check www.biddingfortravel.com. It is a website where people post their successful Priceline bids.

Cece: The post is discussing HotWire, not Priceline. I think the purpose of this post was due to the fact that there IS a board for PriceLine, but not one for Hot Wire

Westin on Michigan Ave. back in the Spring' 2002. I'm sorry but I can't remember the date in May (I was only there 1 night) or exact price. I believe it was in the range of $65-70. It was a GREAT location though and nice hotel. I've used hotwire.com in other cities as well and never been disappointed.

This is a great idea - I've always wondered what hotels HotWire uses. Until now I was afarid to use them fearing for a 4* Red Roof Inn - ha ha ha. This is really helpful, I'm glad someone started this. Do you think furture posters could also tell what HotWire area the hotel was located in? The divide up the city a slightly differently than Price Line. Nice to see you can get the Westin, Tremont etc. on Hotwire!

I've never used hotwire.com for Chicago but have used it twice in NYC. Both times in NYC I got the Sheraton Hotel and Towers on 7th Ave (a super location) so they apparently do book Starwood Properties i.e. Sheratons and Westins. Bill

After looking at several websites and calling several places, I just booked Swissotel Chicago on Hotwire, Oct 24-27, for $92 per night. It was listed as a 4 1/2 star property on magnificent mile/Wacker. I guess I may have gotten a better deal with Priceline, but with Hotwire I knew that the hotel had a pool, which we wanted for the kids. The best I could do calling around was Hampton Inn River North, $130.

ditto on the Airport Hilton.! Last Thanksgiving weekend. Great deal for little $$$. We flew into late O'Haire late at night & walked accross the street to the hotel.

A quick subway ride into the city..saw a couple of shows and went to the fine art Museum: http://www.artic.edu/aic/

On the return.. had an early flight out... fell out of bed, crossed the road, and bang .. we're in the aireport.

I booked a room through hotwire and selected a hotel in the 'North Michigan Ave' area.(3 Stars I think) We ended up at the Royal KnickerBocker, on E. Superior. Fabulous location and it was under $100.

Just booked the Sheraton Chicago Hotel & Towers for 11/15 at $88 w/tax & fees $107. Listed as 3.5* Debated between using Priceline vs Hotwire but selected Hotwire because I wanted to guarantee the property had a pool and didn't want to get the Hyatt Regency (which is what I would have gotten through Priceline). You pay more through Hotwire but can better pinpoint your location and amenities. They also request non-smoking rooms for all their bookings.

Faye, any particular reason you just topped a 4 year old thread? The hotel rate information there is so old, wouldn't it be better to just ask a new question and start a new thread?
