What can I do in Mystic, CT for one day?

Leaving tomorrow from Philly to Cape Cod for a Saturday to Saturday rental. Was planning to leave here around 4:30am but now realize that may put us in the worst of the traffic. Now thinking of driving to Mystic and spending a few hours there before heading to the Cape (maybe arriving around 6:00PM which has been suggested to me.)

So... what can my 22 year old daughter and I do to entertain ourselves in Mystic for 4 hours or so??? Not into museums and we have a great aquarium close by home so we're not interested in that.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Well they have a couple of discount malls. Or there are several major casinos nearby.

Mystic is a good "walking around" town. Just drive in, park somewhere near the bridge and walk. There are cute shops - some neat restaurants and it's a nice afternoon OR you can go to Mystic Seaport - very easy to find. That's more fun than a regular museum, and it's kind of interesting (check their website).

I agree, just walking around is nice and an easy way to kill 4 hours. Check out the tall ships right in downtown too.

mystic is a perfect place to walk around, stretch your legs, shop, some good photo op's. there is "mystic pizza", which the early julia roberts film was based on, and that would be a great place to have a bite. or "slice of heaven" i should say...
