What are those of you who will be in Vegas over the holidays packing to wear?

Hi guys,

I'm in Vegas from the 25-29th of Dec. and I'm trying to sort out what I'm going to bring ( I always overpack...which I've become OK with at this point because I always have what I want to wear with me :) )

I'm bringing:
1 pair of black leggings ( to wear with a longer shirts/sweaters)
1 pair blue jeans (skinny leg)
1 pair black jeans (skinny leg)
1 club style dress (we're going out one night to a club)
Black turtle neck
black cardigan
a couple of coloured tanks to wear under cardigan
burgundy hooded sweatshirt (but it's not slobby, it's a Christian Audigier if that means anything to you lol)
Fuscia 3/4 length sleeve cotton top
Cream coloured kimono style top

That will be what I will most probably end up wearing most. But
I'm gonna throw in a few extras like a plain greay sweater, a red 3/4 length sleeved top etc.

I'm also bringing a light winter jacket. It's not downfilled but I wear it on milder winter days here in Montreal so I'm thinking it should be OK. I've been checking the forecast and it's not that warm there lol!

What do you guys think, will I be OK with what I've mentioned. I know to some people this is a non issue but I want to be comfy.

Oh for shoes I have a comfy pair of black flats, adidas runners, and heels for our night out.

Vegas is quite cold right now (the whole West is having a cold spell), so I'd pack for that.

Keep in mind the casinos are 72 degrees, so if you over dress you may be too warm (especially since you are from Montreal). But if you plan to walk the strip (which is really fun), you'll need to be prepared for the weather, which it sounds like you have done.

Do most casino's offer a coat check or will we need to keep our coats with us as we go in each? I wouldn't want to lug around my coat as I go into casino after casino.

No coat checks (at least not that I've ever seen), so you'll have to lug everything with you.

aucho53 Dec 16th, 2008 04:31 PM

Really?? Arrrgggg that sucks, I don't really care to carry a coat around, I'm not gonna wanna wear it if it's 72 degrees inside either. :(

Yes, there are coat checks. I saw the one at Mandalay Bay at least.

Don't forget the condoms!

Get a hip coat that you don't want to take off.

From what I remember, the casinos are quite chilly.

jbee Dec 18th, 2008 04:35 PM

Just in case you haven't seen the weather, we have snow in Vegas right now and it's a bit chilly. :)

Highs next week are slated to be in the low 50's with nights in the 30's. That's cold enough for the locals to bundle up - I have on my wool coat, gloves, scarf, and hat but my blood has thinned after a few years here. Well... And I love gloves, scarves, and hats. (Yeah, I know - I live in the desert.)

Anyway, what you listed should be fine. There's really not much of a dress code in Vegas - just be comfy. Your shoes are the most important part, so make sure you're wearing comfortable and well broken-in footwear, even your heels. Depending on the club or restaurant you're going to, you may be hiking through the casino a ways. I did that the other night in 3.5" heels and I wouldn't highly recommend it. :)

Thanks for tip jbee! Actually the heels that I'm bringing are not terrible comy (but damn they look goo lol!!!) Oh the things we do to be beautiful lol :) I'm gonna have to get my boyfriend to carry me from the cab to the club haha!

I checked the weather, I saw the snow...I cried a bit lol but I got over it. I know it gets chilly but it's way better than what I'm at now in Montreal -20C with 40 centimeters of snow over the last week and another 15 expected by Sunday!

Thanks again!

Vegas should be in mid 40's to low 50's in the day with sun when you arrive. A bit cool and below average (I believe average is mid 50's this time of year), but the snow should be gone by then.

Thanks bk!! I appreciate the update :)

Vegas is cool to cold in winter. Nights especially can be downright brutal and windy.

But, you're in the midst of shopping heaven. If you need something... go shopping!

.... and, I'd leave the real high-heels at home. Even inside, there's lots of floor space to cover in hotels/casinos. Nobody will be looking at your feet and your dogs will thank you!

I was thinking of this thread today because I will be in Vegas from the 24th - 28th. And I am from Hawaii. Gaaaah. I hope I bring enough warm things.

Do you think it will continue snowing through that time? I have a couple of pairs of boots, but not the rubber-soled kind. Just wondering if I need to run to Ross to pick up a quick pair.

Got my scarf, gloves, even earmuffs. I feel like such a sissy but hey...I'm from Hawaii!

I returned from Vegas yesterday - and being a Floridian, it was WAY too cold for me! All that wet snow! It was warm in all the casinos. I didn't need a jacket or sweater in any of them. I lugged a coat around with me, which was annoying for sure.

SAnParis2 Dec 21st, 2008 12:36 PM

It DID just snow there afterall. Most people don't realize how cold it gets in Vegas in the Wintertime. I'll refrain from comment about the return of the 1980's 'leggings'. I guess next we'll have the return of 'Mall hair' & 'Don Johnson' jackets. I may still have mine. Hmmmm.

MelissaHI Dec 21st, 2008 03:07 PM

Excellent!! I love the 80s!!
>:-)

SAnParis2 Dec 21st, 2008 03:28 PM

I loved them, when I was in them, I am not, however, feeling the need to re-live them.

I went and found me a hooded jacket today. I did not have anything quite warm enough, coming from So Cal. I will be packing gloves too and warm clothes. I will be there from the 26th to the 29th. I'm staying at the Flamingo.

Hey, maybe those of us that are going can meet for a little while :)
