what are some ofthe must see sights in DC
I'm stopping over in DC for one night. will have most of the next day to do some sight seeing. what are some of the must see sights.
any recommendations on restaurants for dinner on my only night in town. thanks |
For dinner, think about hanging out in Adams Morgan. There are lots of Thai, Ethiopian, Indian and other ethnic restaurants around. The area has a great multiculti feel to it.

I'd suggest going to the Holocaust Museum and the monuments, or any of the museums in the Smithsonian.

There's some good advice here, but these days I feel like two museums really stand apart from the traditional safe picks:
* The Holocaust Museum - absolutely a first-rate experience, though very unsettling and somber -- as you can well imagine. The museum just packs so much punch that I can't even BEGIN to do it justice. There is, frankly, *NO* more important or significant site in D.C. than this place, IMHO. * The Spy Museum -- New kid on the block, having opened only about a year ago. Think James Bond, think Get Smart, think I Spy. Pick a favorite spy agency: the CIA, MI6, KGB, Mossad. Put yourself in their place -- then be prepared to be dazzled. Prices are high at $13, and lines are outrageous on weekends, but the place is undeniably cool. But don't tell anyone I told you, or I'll have to kill you. Have fun! Mark www.tiogringo.com |
