we've narrowed our choices

Ok-- we need your final advice. We have narrowed our choices down to Atlantic Shores Resort vs. Southernmost Motel in KeyWest. There will be 4 girls who plan on doing quite a bit of lively nightlife activity. We leave next week!! Thanks!!!

Not to confuse you, but have you thought of a b&b? IMO, both are quite a walk from Duval.

Samantha - In case you're not familiar with Atlantic Shores, it's more old motel than resort. The thing that distinguishes it is its clothing optional pool that caters primarily to gays (though everyone is welcome). As for lots of nightlife, you're really on the wrong end of Duval for that with either place. Most of the bars and restaurants are closer to the Gulf.

Hi Samantha...I stayed at the Souternmost Motel on my first visit to Key West and I recommend it...it's a good value...I had a room on the 2nd floor overlooking the pool that was nice and clean and the staff was friendly...I didn't think it was a very long walk to Duval Street, but I do walk alot when I travel...you'll also be able to walk to the southernmost point in the US.

Sam, you'll be happy with the Southernmost. Actually I think it's on Duval, or at least one side of it is, except it's the "other end" of Duval. It's not like it's a terribly long walk to get from one end to the other, a mile maybe.

After all of the responses yesterday, why in the world have you made it more complicated. Why have you thrown Atlantic Shores Motel into the mix. What are you looking for?

Atlantic Shores is a motel that is on the water. It has a clothing optional pool/deck that is open to the public but does get a majority of gays usually. The rooms are probably not as nice as Southernmost Motel. As I mentioned in yesterdays post, you are still at the wrong side of Duval. It is a 13-14 block street with most of the bars and such in the 1st 4 or 5 blocks. You are at the other end. The walk isn't bad but just keep in mind you will have a 10-15 minute walk back and forth.

Atlantic Shores is tons of fun. It may be on the other end from the night life but it is a very fun place to stay.
