Westin Maui or Hyatt Maui???

Hi! We will be getting married in Maui this October and are having a hard time deciding between the Westin Maui or the Hyatt. We are planning to stay 5 or 6 nights in Maui, then honeymoon at the Kauai Hyatt for 6 nights. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

My husband and I stayed at the Hyatt in Maui. It was so wonderful! The pool was great. It's a nice section of Kaanapali (sp?). You can take a walk on the beach and see all the other hotels. You can even try out their pools is you're game.

The hotel has very nice restaurants and the bar is lovely. The hotel is all open above, so when you walk in you feel the tropical breezes as you're checking in. I would definitely stay at the Hyatt.

We're already saving for our 10th Anniversary and when we go back to Maui, that's where we'll stay.

By the way, I heard the Hyatt at Kaui is even better.

Congratulations!

Aloha Michele! I'm surprised you're not considering any resorts on the western shores of Maui. There are some very beautiful resorts located there. Grand Wailea, Four Seasons and Kea Lani are a few. The Grand Wailea has a beautiful wedding chapel. I stayed there 3 years ago and saw quite a few weddings performed. The beach is also much nicer
in Wailea. I've also stayed at the Hyatt and found the beach very small as compared to the Wailea beaches. The pool area at the Hyatt was also very crowded. Many people from the other resorts came to use their pool. We learned this from a poolside cocktail waitress. She refused to serve these outsiders. The Marriott up the beach is doing renovations and their pools won't be open till December. Whatever you choose the best of wishes to both of you. Eke

We have stayed at the Hyatt and loved it. It is romantic, and the pool area is great. The lobby is open and romantic and the restaurant were excelllent as well. We also visited the Westin; the lobby wasn't that impressive and I have heard that the rooms are relatively small. The Hyatt is somewhat croweded, but we didn't mind it at all. Be sure to eat at the Westin seafood buffet around sunset, it is beautiful.

The Hyatt in Maui is a very nice hotel. The service was great, good breakfast buffet, good location right on the beach. You can walk to neighboring hotels and a small shopping area with restaurants. We attended a Luau (sp?) at the Marriott, which is right next door. I would stay there again. I didn't visit the Westin, so I can't comment.
The Hyatt in Kauai is absolutely one of the most gorgeous hotels! You'll love it. Have a great honeymoon!

I just got back from Maui. My husband and I stayed at the Westin. The pools there are spectacular. The rooms are smaller than the Marriott where we stayed when we went 4yrs ago. Now, however, the Marriott is refurbishing. The Westin was begining some construction too but on the restaurants so one was closed. We had a wonderful time and the hotel is beautiful but could use some new carpets and paint. The beds were very comfy. We walked down to the Hyatt and that hotel is beautiful with equally nice pools but I do know that the Marriott guests are using it. The Sheraton also on Ka'anapali Beach is brand new and very nice. It is located at Black Rocks a great snorkel spot. We also explored a little at Kapalua Bay Hotel in Kapalua. That hotel is spectacular. If you golf there are golf courses all around. However, Ka'anapali beach has more going on. Either way its only 10 minutes away and you should go see it. The South West side was nice. We ckeck out alot of the beaches but it wasnt as sunny as the North West and the drive is only about 35 minutes. Good Luck and Have Fun! Maui is the best place on earth!

You can't go wrong with either the Hyatt or Westin. Both are wonderful. They are very close to each other, both on the very best spot on Maui: Kaanapali Beach.

LOTS more info about Maui restaurants, hotels, activities, sights, etc, at this web site:
http://www.mauihawaii.org
(note it ends in org, not com)
Jon
If money isn't a consideration, I'd choose the Hyatt..Having stayed at both, IMO, the Hyatt is nicer..
I liked the pool area at the Hyatt better, and restaurants. Not to say the Westin wasnt great, it was,in fact think you get the most bang for you buck there, The one thing the wife LOVED about the Westin was, your right next door to Whalers Village. They have some great shops..
And the Hyatt on Kauai is FANTASTIC!!
Aloha

I had to add my 2 cents! The Hyatt Maui was lovely, but boy oh boy, wait until youarrive at the Hyatt resort in Kauai!!!! You will think that you died and went to heaven. Seriously. It's the most beautiful place i've ever been. Make sure that you take a few showers in the morning at the Anara Spa! They're open air, lava rock showers with the spa's trademark mango shampoo/soap/ lotion free for your use. Meet your new hubby in the open air jacuzzi with fresh juice and coffee and chill before hitting the island sight seeing. If you golf, hit the Poipu Resort Course (next door).

Good luck!
