Westin Maui- Good or bad?

My husband and I are considering staying at the Westin Maui. Apparently it's on a nice beach and offers a variety of water sports -both are top priority along with nice accomodations. We understand that the hotel was just renovated. Has anyone been recently? Thanks!

My husband and I stayed there last July. We really loved it. We were on our honeymoon and thought it was really nice.

They also offer an area by one of the pools that is adults only...it was nice to get away from the families and kids.

We walked around and looked at the other chain hotels (Sheraton, Marriott, Hyatt) and thought they all looked really nice. The Hyatt looked a little more "high end" than the Westin.

Have fun.

We stayed at the Westin a few years ago. I highly recommend it! The Westin and the Hyatt Regency are the nicest hotels in the Kaanapali area, in my opinion. They both have the best pools--waterfalls, caves, etc.--and the most beautiful lobbies. And the location--Kaanapali Beach--is in my opinion the best vacation spot in Maui! Nice beach, Whalers shopping mall, short driving distance to Lahaina, Black Rock snorkeling. You won't be disappointed.

The only drawback was our room, though not small, was not as spacious compared to other hotel rooms we've stayed in. But then again, we didn't plan on spending our vacation hanging out in our room--we were out all day to enjoy the beach, pool and sights.

Unless you are getting an incredible deal at the Westin, I would opt for either the Hyatt, Sheraton, or Kapalua Bay on that part of the island. JMHO--Good Luck !!

Actually, rates at the Hyatt and Kapalua are higher than that of the Westin. Sheraton, I agree, is less expensive.
