Westin Kierland resort Phoenix

Has anyone stayed here recently and if so I would really appreciate your overview.
Also does anyone know the Scotsdale Plaza resort? Terry

My husband and I stayed here last year for a convention. We loved it. The rooms were very nice and they have the heavenly beds. You can walk to the Kierland Commons shopping and restaurants which is about a block away. They have a nice little patio out back where you can sit at night and they have fireplaces and heaters and mexican blankets on the chairs to keep you warm if it is chilly. The golf course was really nice and nice pools. We are still talking about how nice it was. Would love to go again.

The Westin Kierland is new (about 1-2 years old) and is very nice. The rooms are Southwestern motif and the beds are heavenly. The golf course is good but pricey (try the afternoon rates) and there is a great pool with a floating river. It is a little cool to do the pool in the winter. The shopping and restaurants at the Kierland Commons puts everything you need within walking distance. We were there about 9 months ago and would certainly go back.

these are not comparable properties. The westin Kierland is less than two years old, very high end upscale. The Plaza is one of the older resorts and it shows. However, it's location is great and the prices can be a bargain.

Leaving for the Westin Kierland Villas in 2.5 weeks! (11/4-11/8) Any must-do's while in the area for 5 days? We are attending the "Best of the Southwest" motorcycle show on Friday in Tempe. (To see Orange County Choppers from "American Chopper" on Discovery.) Will have a car and would like golf course recomendations as well. Oh yeah..anyone know where the NASCAR drivers may hang out since the race is on Sun, 11/7? Thanks! :)

The Wrigley House? I've lived here since 1989 and I've never heard of it. The Wrigley Mansion is now a restaurant. Could they have been referring to the Biltmore Resort? That's worth seeing. Food: Definately don't miss Los Sombreros and Barrio Cafe. (There's a big biker bar near Los Sombreros that might also appeal to you.) Neither are near your hotel, but both are WELL worth the drive and reasonably priced. The latter does not take reservations, so be aware. Other things to see: Sedona, 2 hr drive and beautiful. Heard Museum is world class American Indian Art. Frank Lloyd Wright's home is not far from your hotel. Great shopping, if you are into that, all over the place. Like Thai food? Swadee Thai is not far from your hotel. Not fancy, but very good food. Take a Pink Jeep or horseback ride into the desert.

I stayed at the Westin Kierland the June after it opened. It really was a mess. We got the worst service and actually disliked it so much that we tried to fly home a day early. The beds were extremely comfortable though. The parking was a nightmare - we had to park so far from the hotel that we regretted renting a car. Our room was not ready when we arrived at 4:00 (even though check it was at 3:00) and it was not ready until around 6:00 and had not been fully cleaned (old lottery tickets and tickets stubs in the drawers), the floor was soaking wet and hair in the sink in the bathroom.

We also stayed there last June/July. Thought it was wonderful, both for service and comfort. Had no problems, and in fact, we extended our stay!

Whats the deal on parking? I will be staying here next week and am wondering if they have self- park,or do you have to valet park?Any info is appreciated.

I cannot imagine that they do not have self park. It may be a bit of a walk from the entrance, however.

I just got back from 4 days at the Westin Kierland. Service at the Starwood properties is usually good, but quite exceptional at the Kierland. Rooms are very nice, great pools and other amenities. Highly recommended.
