Westin Kierland in Scottsdale Arizona?

Is this a good location for spas and shopping? Is there such thing as economy spas with luxurious treatments? Looking to spend $75 for massage, $50 facials, etc. Is the Westin a nice hotel, looking for a luxury relaxing hotel.

Westin is nice, although I've only seen the common areas, not the rooms themselves. It's brand new, though, so the rooms are probably in great shape. You are right by the Kierland Commons, a cute outside shopping plaza with nice restaurants: Zinc - a French bistro; North, an interesting interpretation of Italian; and a seafood restaurant that is supposed to be pricey but excellent. I beieve that most Arizona spas offer discounts on treatments in the summer, if you are think of coming to the area soon. I think your price expectations seems reasonable, and most resort spas offer combo deals where you can several treatments for a package price. Note: this hotel is in the north/central part of Scottsdale. You will have to venture the freeway to come to the more central, old town part of Scottsdale.

My husband and I stayed at the Westin Kierland last November and really enjoyed it. The room was luxurious--they have the heavenly bed but also the heavenly bath. The bathroom was huge with a separate bathtub and shower. Bedroom was also large with a walk-in closet and a small patio with a table and a couple of chairs. We didn't indulge in the spa but everything else about the hotel was top-of-the-line, so I'm sure the spa would be too. As previous poster mentioned, there is an open air mall right beside the hotel with lots of shopping and restaurants. In addition to the restaurants mentioned, there is also a Cheesecake Factory, Morton's Steakhouse and a chinese restaurant which is part of a chain--I can't remember the name but I think it was something like PF Chang's (which was very popular, always lined up so we never got to try it). We did eat at Bistro Zinc and really enjoyed it, as well as Cheesecake Factory. If you're a Starwood member, you can go for their sales pitch on their condos and they will give you a $100 gift certificate to use at the mall.

We used our $100 certificate at the Cheesecake Factory. Our meal was only $75 so they gave us $25 cash back!!

The concierge at the hotel set it up when we went to ask about things to do in the area. They're trying to sell timeshares. They give you a choice of I think the $100 certificate or 10,000 bonus Starwood points (I could be wrong on the amount of points).

I forgot to mention that the $100 gift certificate could also be used in the hotel so you could probably apply to a spa treatment. I hope they still have that deal for you. We were there last November. We got the Westin Kierland through Hotwire at $91/night. I went to biddingfortravel.com beforehand so was pretty sure what I was getting before I bought.
