Westin Grand Central or Four Points Times Square?

I have a provisional booking at the Four Points hotel in Times Square but have noticed a similar deal for the Westin Grand Central. Would anyone here recommend one over the other? They're not a long walk away from each other so location may not come in to play so much?

Thanks.

Both hotels are perfectly nice but both offer only double rooms (2 double beds) whereas you could get a hotel that has double queen beds for more sleeping space and usually more floor room depending how many persons are you with.

Hi Todd, thanks for the response. I'm using SPG points so I'm tied down to using a Sheraton group hotel. I've enough points for 4 free nights in either of those hotels or the Sheraton Times Square - that particular Sheraton doesn't have a room available with separate beds though (I'm travelling with my brother and as much as I love him I'd rather not share a bed with him lol).

I think the Westin looks 'slightly' nicer but I'm probably splitting hairs to be honest.

As a New Yorker the Grand Central location is much better than times square - but I know that many tourists prefer the latter.

Granted they aren;t far apart - but depending on what you plan on doing the west side subway access might be more convenient.

Are you going to be able to check into either one without a credit card? (even free stays require a cc at check in)

DD and I stayed at that Westin in February 2013--it had just been re-branded as a Westin and thus completely re-done with new beds, bedding, interior finishes, etc. We loved it--the beds were super comfy, there were glass wine glasses in the room, great bathroom amenities and lush towels.

Having just stayed for the first time a couple of weeks ago at a Four Points property (Nashville) I would choose a Westin every time, especially if the "cost" (in your case--free) was the same. The Four Points was fine for our needs, but it was nowhere near the level of a Westin.

Thanks everyone - I think I'll amend my reservation to the Westin today. @janisj I've a Visa debit card that I use for hotel check-in etc so I'm ok on that front. Thanks again, David.
