Western U.S. National Park tent camping trip

My spouse and I want to spend 8 days tent camping out west in June or July. We love hiking to waterfalls and mountain lakes, scenic vistas, also wildflowers. We're considering Grand Teton NP or northern California (Mt. Shasta perhaps?), but we're open to other areas of the Pacific Northwest also. We've visited/camped at parks in the east, also Rocky Mountain National Park, Grand Canyon, Yosemite, and the California Coast from San Diego to the Redwood Forest with stops along the way. Question: Any suggestions for where to go next and input on when if it makes a difference? Thanks so very much!!!

We are having a mild winter so the park could open early. Normal opening is approx. mid June.

I agree with others - Grand Tetons, Yellowstone, and Glacier or even just Tetons & Yellowstone (with only 8 days).

I agree with all these suggestions; I'm getting a little envious just thinking about your trip.

Additional choices would be Banff/Jasper in Canada, also Olympic and Mount Ranier NPs. I've mentioned the Snowy Range in southern Wyoming on this site. My husband and I loved camping there in early July one year; it had everything you've mentioned, and very few visitors.

Much of the Colorado Trail is gorgeous. My husband and I have gradually hiked a little over 150 miles of it - we have over 200 miles to go. The areas just south of Silverton, around Leadville, in Cumberland Basin near Durango, and Cochetopa Creek, just east of Creede, have been our favorite sections.

Olympic National Park has everything you're looking for. It's a HUGE park, so it encompasses many different types of terrain. It has mountains, hills covered with flowers, lakes, rivers, waterfalls, and a rain forest, too... and the western side of the park is on the Pacific so you can camp near the beach (and play with the starfish and sea anemone that live in the little pools).

I decided to go to Olympic after seeing photos of my friend's 8-week long trip to the national parks of the west. Olympic just stood out to me. It looked so beautiful I just HAD to go there...I wasn't disappointed.

Mount Rainier was pretty cool too...the mountain itself looked amazing...when it wasn't covered in clouds. It was a lot smaller and more crowded than Olympic though.

Wow, thanks so much for the great advice so far! We really appreciate it! We're considering Grand Tetons & Yellowstone together, or full 8 days in Glacier or Olympic alone. Hmmm...pretty undecided, aren't we? Your comments are all so compelling! We're investigating trip plans based on input we've received to try to narrow this down...further insights are welcomed! Thank you again!!!
