Westbrook, CT - Water's Edge Resort

Does anyone know of this town and resort? What are they like?

hi, i live in CT about 35 min from this resort anf have been there for weddings, business conferences, etc. it is nice bc it is on the beach, (on LI sound, so NOT a great beach, but good for connecticut) it has a very good restaurant with beautiful water views. however, the one time that i stayed there, i found the rooms "tired" looking and overpriced. i stayed in one of the outbuildings that looked like 80's condos, but i hear that the rooms in the main building are much nicer. so, it is a nice place, but not a great place. chatham bars inn (in chatham, on the cape) is a GREAT place...just got back from there and THAT is a world class resort....katrina

oh yes, i forgot to tell you that there is GREAT outlet shopping both in westbrook itself and an even better outlet mall in clinton CT which is 5 minutes south (or east) on I-95 from westbrook. the clinton outlet mall has "premium" outlet stores like saks 5th avenue, polo, DKNY, coach, cole haan, tommy hilfiger, gap, nike etc, whereas the westbrook outlets are like reebok, j.crew, linen stores, luggage stores, etc. and the town of clinton has a number of antique stores if you like antiquing...

Resort's restaurant has a beautiful view of LI Sound from a high vantage point. Food is fine.

Can you stay for just a night or two? How much does it cost in the summer?

hi again, there is a website for this facility; it is www.watersedge-resort.com (note the hyphen after edge). but, conspicuously there are no prices, just a 1-800 number given. when i stayed there in july a year or two ago, they were charging about 270 per night for a 2 bedroom garden suite, though unless you are travelling with a family, i do NOT recommend a suite in the loft and garden buildings, bc they were 1980's looking condo buildings. a water view room in the main inn would be my first choice. and you can almost always get a room for only one or two nights, even if they say they have a "2 night" minimum or whatever, bc they always end up with spare nights here and there that they would rather sell than leave empty. it IS a time-share property these days, but it is not something you would know or care about as most people staying there are NOT doing the time-share thing. katrina

Ate there for a weeding. Very picturesque! But that's what you're paying for! Value for your money is extremely poor!

"Premium outlet mall".

Now if that's not an oxymoron then I don't know what is.
Outlet malls with 'premium stores' sell merchandise which is not the same quality as the full price sites.

In the end, you get what you pay for.
