WEST Yellowstone Dining?

I saw all the posts about dining IN the Park, but what about dining in West Yellowstone? We will be there for 5 days. I am not concerned about our 4 days in Jackson, because they seemed to have quite a few good restaurants. I realize the Parks are the focus of our trip, but would like to find decent dining, not the Ritz Carlton, but not Mickey Ds either. Any thoughts? Advice? I have been trying to get accomdations at Old Faithful or Snow lodge, but no luck yet. So west Yellowstone it it is, so far. Judy

At the time we were there, the food in w. yellowstone is generic, at best. But food is by far, the very last thing on our priority list when we travel....

However, pick up subs at Ernies Deli - truly the best we've ever had. Throw them into a cooler and enjoy a picnic within the park. (worked great for us)

I agree that there is pretty much just fast food in West Yellowstone.

The only unique place we saw and went to in West Yellowstone was for breakfast. There is a cute, small little breakfast place called Something like Little Bear's Pancake House (or something similar to that...maybe three bears p.h.) They are only open until 2 p.m.

Food is not our top priority either, but after a long day hiking, sightseeing, and kayaking, it is so very nice(and civiliized) to be able to have a good bottle of wine and some decent food...even if it is a good pizza(like Zion Pizza &Pasta in Springdale). Just wondering if there was an equivalent in West Yellowstone?

We haven't been there in a few years, but the hotels have restaurants--we ate at the Holiday Inn and the food was fine--actual meals, etc. There was an old fashioned soda shop/grill type place that had great sandwiches/malts, etc. and an italian/pizza place that served wine. Sorry I can't come up with names. We went to that Little Bear's place too--had forgotten about that. There was also a little diner-type place that the locals went to, that had more like home cooked meals. It's not 5 star dining, but I think you will be able to find places to eat. We're thinking of going back in the hopefully not too far distant future and will probably stay in West Yellowstone again, so would really appreciate a trip report. Have a great vacation!
