West Maui Restaurants

It's been awhile. We usually stay south. Are there any great restaurants left? Seems like many have shuttered. Where did David Paul go?

Lahaina Grill is outstanding, but pricey. Star Noodle is very good, and relatively inexpensive.

Thanks for the reply. Seems a lot of places have closed. I've heard great things about Star Noodle. In general Wailea hotels seem to house much better restaurants. Curious.

I think we will go to Mala and 'practice aloha'

I agree about Star Noodle.
I've also heard good things about Honu on front street.

For nicer dinners I like Merrimans in Kapalua as well as the aforementioned Lahaina Grill.

I agree I like South Maui restaurants better too.

We had a fantastic last meal at Merriman's in Kapalua. Divine Moncong and a RibEye with a wonderful tomato salad and dark chocolate dessert. Great service and views.

Glad you enjoyed your meal! I really enjoy Merriman's and am looking forward to dining at his Kauai restaurant again in a month!

Tifa, while you're on Kauai (jealous!), you might also try Josselin's (in the same shopping center as Merriman's). Small plates and very good - nice atmosphere too.

Jean Marie just opened a second joint in Kapa'a

sf7307 & Inakauaidavidababy - Thanks for the info! I have Josselin's on my list and now will check out her new place in Kapa'a. I'm only there a week and my list of foodie places is growing longer and longer! Probably a month's worth of eating out...not that I'm complaining. :)

His new place! JO2 is his new place. I think it may be closer to A Pacific Cafe vibe - small upscale in a stripmall vibe.

Sorry, I meant "his" not "hers!"
The menu looks fantastic as I love Asian and Asian-influenced cuisine. If we dine there I'll be sure to report back.

Star Noodle is great, though the standard noodle dishes are very close to what you would get at Aloha Mixed Plate, which owns it. There's a great list of Maui restaurants at www.mauisbestvacationguide.com.
