West end of Panama City Beach

I've noticed several people referring to the west end of the beach and saying to go toward the east end. Why not the west, just wondering.
THANKS

Panama City is east of Panama City Beach; many of the best restaurants and nightlife are close to the bridge between the City & the Beach. As one drives west towards Destin, PCB becomes the famed "redneck riviera," especially along a stretch of Highway 98 (Front Beach Road) known as "the Strip." Also, the best condos are on Thomas Drive, near the Hathaway Bridge.

As said by Rudy, the east end of PCB is the nicest. I prefer east of Edgewater, even better east of Joan Ave on Thomas. Being close to St. Andrews Park is also nice.

The western end of PCB has older places to stay and is farther from the "action" than the east side. The beach is just as good. If you don't mind older accommodations and traveling to entertainment and restaurants, the west end will be fine.

Have stayed on the west end and preferred the quietness there. The hotels are older, but the beach is the same, fine quality with far fewer young drunks. Had a car so could drive east to find food and entertainment.
