West Coast/Inexpensive Beach Spot

HELP!!! I wnat to take my husband on a surprise trip for his 50th birthday. I have 2 free airline tix but not alot of money to spend. Looking for suggestions for a clean, inexpensive, resort/cottage for a week - near the beach - for around $100 a night. I'm thinking about Naples, Sanibel, Clearwater, Pensacola, etc.....looking for white sand and waves. Everything I look at is $250 a night (ouch). Any suggestions?

Your header leads people to think you are asking about the west coast of the USA, not Florida. Hope you find something.

Depends on if you're willing to stay in a hotel or plan to rent a condo. I'm going to Destin next week and staying at the Surfside Resort (Abbott Resorts), it's a high-rise right across the street from the beach with a walk-over to the beach. We booked a hotel room 2/balcony 3 months ago and got a rate of $96 a night. The beaches are beautiful in Destin, about an hour from Pensacola. Check out destincam.com during the daytime to see the beach. I don't want to sound like an advertisment, I'm just offering a suggestion for you. Good luck.

That's a hotel room w/balcony not 2. Should have proof-read.

Christine, you do not mention when you are going? I think if you are planning this trip now you would fine many places for less than $250.00 a night, even on the beach. Just go on Expedia.com and search under hotels only. I am sure you will find a nice place in a selected area for much less.

I am flexible on when - either March or April......I know I can search but I am looking for specific recommendations for places that are decent. Hard to tell from the web sites if you know what I mean.
