Weekend trip to a destination midway between Boston and New York
Hi,
My dad's 60th birthday is coming up. We have family that lives in Boston and in New York. We want to find a bed and breakfast/weekend getaway somewhere midway between Boston and in New York. Does anyone have any suggestions for destination/bed and breafkast/fesort/hotel? It would be a one night or two night stay.
Thanks very much!

Littleman has very expensive taste!!! Castle Hill is a very special property that spend an a huge amount of money renovating and it shows!
I'd also consider Watch Hill. They too have spent a good some saving the old dame. Haven't stayed there but it too would be a fine choice.

I can't give personal recommendations for any of these, but there are some resorts you might look into in Lenox, Mass: Canyon Ranch, Cranwell and Blantyre. All seem well out of my price range but Cranwell is the most reasonable.

sharona555 , when would this trip be and how many people?.
All adults, or kids, teens too? Are you looking for activities, or just a place to gather? Would a larger hotel work for you too?
B&Bs are the hardest to fit a larger group and also less likely to do one night weekend stays. In some suitable locations like town in the Berkshires, you need to count on 3 nights.
Other locations (all over the map on this) might be the casinos (Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun), Essex CT area,
Saratoga Springs (not in between NYC and Boston geographically, but each would be about 3 hours away)
There are a few small hotels in CT that are marketed together, one might sound good to you http://classichotelsofct.com

Agreed on the Inn at Stonington. We have been there three times now and love it. Beautiful rooms with lovely views. The town is a nice place to walk around and there are some good restaurants. It's also a good base for exploring the CT coast.
