Weekend Suggestions for Coastal Rhode Island
Hi all,
Husband and I are hoping for a last-minute overnight trip to coastal Rhode Island for our anniversary. We are traveling from Northwest CT, and are looking for suggestions on towns to visit and a romantic b&b or inn with character. We are looking for a few cute towns to walk around and some scenic drives along the coast. Maybe something Cape-Cod like? Also, somewhere that would have an upscale restaurant - maybe near the ocean - to have an anniversary dinner. We have spent time in Newport and Watch Hill already. Looking for new scenery if someone has suggestions. Thanks! |

I've fallen in love with Bristol. Close enough to Jamestown, and Newport for that matter, but the charm of the "old" Cape, with some wonderful restaurants, boutiques and art galleries and old homes, lovinly restored, America's Cup museum, beautiful Main St., Blithwold, a beautiful estate/mansion from the early 20th century and it's gardens.
The Rockwell House Inn, close to the center of town, and Narraganset Bay and the harbor in Bristol, I have toured, but not stayed in. It looked lovely, and does have its own web site. Colt State Park is also in Bristol-and there is a park in the middle of town,on the waterfront that is much fun to sit, have a home-made lemonade from the Beehive, a little coffee shop on the harbor, and watch the boats sail by. le Central, a French Bistro, right on Main, is a wonderful place for dinner. The chef's Cassoulet rivals anything we had in Toulose! Happy Anniversary!! |
I second the Bristol advice.
Another quaint town is Wickford - can't think of a Wickford restaurant, though. |
I adore East Beach on Charleston. At the end of the road go left at maine parking lot and park at end of road. shhhhhh!
