Weekend Romantic Getaway in California with MEALS?
 

Does anyone know of a getaway in Florida that includes room and meals. We have quite a few of these sorts of packages where I'm from and would love to do the same in California.

Your question is confusing--what does Florida have to do with this? Are you looking for a package in California? Try the San Ysidro Ranch in Santa Barbara if CA is where you're looking.

For a romantic weekend getaway, check out Carmel. Quaint, charming oceanfront town with NO neon signs, NO high rises, NO fast food joints. Lots of shops, restaurants, galleries, all walkable, as well as the beautiful town beach. I don't know about meal plans, but you can do bed & breakfast, and there are some outstanding restaurants--you wouldn't want to be locked into one place.

California is a big place. Where in the state are going to be? Anywhere? What time of year?

Carmel, is a good suggestion. Mendocino would be good. The Ahwahnee in Yosmeite would be fun. Post Ranch Inn or Ventana in Big Sur would be nice. Sonoma Mission Inn in Sonoma, L'Auberge de Soleil, Meadowood are some places in the Napa and Sonoma Valleys that come to mind too. Not sure if Manka's in Inverness has rebuilt since the fire a couple of years ago, but that would be an interesting choice too.

As iamq says, we really can't help much w/o knowing which part(s) of CA you want to visit? What time of year? What is your budget?

BTW - I personally wouldn't take a meal plan (other than bed and breakfast of course) because in most areas of CA there are MANY wonderful restaurants and I would hate being limited to eating in my hotel.

I assume you could probably find a hotel deal that would include some meals at the hotel restaurant... but you would certainly be missing out by traveling this way. The best food is always to be found outside your hotel, and it's such a great way to experience your destination. If you are worried about your budget, remember that you can always find inexpensive dining options when traveling-- just do a bit of research beforehand (and in general, don't eat at your hotel).
