Weekend in Philadelphia

We are going to Philadelphia to see Mumford and sons on Feb 17th. Any suggestions for best place to stay? I am considering Sofitel, Le Meridien and Four Seasons. Also - restaurant for a special occasion? I have reservations at Bistrot Le Minette but can change them.

There's not a particular location advantage, I wouldn't think, as I'm assuming you'll be driving to the concert venue in Camden? I'm sorry I can't help with the hotels themselves, but as a resident, well, I don't tend to stay in the city hotels. :)

I would give a very slight edge to the Sofitel for location, unless of course one of your meals is at the Fountain at the Four Seasons--which wouldn't be a bad thing.

Have a great trip, and hopefully this will bring your post up for someone who can be more specific on the hotels!

As noted above, a LOT depends on how you plan to get to Philly from Camdem. If you intend to drive (plan for $20 for parking, and $4 to cross the bridge coming back), then you'll want easy access to the Ben Franklin Bridge. Check maps carefully: Philly traffic can be confusing and inconvenient, and Camden at night is NOT a city you want to get lost in. Once you pick a hotel, feel free to ask the best way to get from the hotel to the "Ben."

If you're considering Patco, I won't kid you: the walk from the Susquehanna Center to the Rand Transport Center is short but goes through a part of Camden I myself wouldn't recommend walking alone at night.

We are not renting a car so I would be taking a taxi to and from the concert. I have been warned of the area around the venue in Camden.

Thanks for the input!

I haven't stayed at the Le Meridien but I can tell you that as nice as the Sofitel is, it's not in the same class as The Four Seasons. If you are getting a good rate at the Four Seasons, I would choose it from the choices you gave.

I'd actually look at the new Hotel Monaco, a Kimpton property. It's nearer to Camden.

The official Philadelphia tourism site has package deals for 2 night stays. Some times the prices are better than other deals.
