Weekend in Downtown Seattle
 

Wife and I are spending the weekend in Downtown Seattle to celebrate our anniversary. Would like to get ideas of what others have done that were special or romantic or just plain fun. We thought about the M's, but couldn't get any good tickets/seats that we desired. We're going to spend friday doing the waterfront and pike place, had hoped for a broadway show on saturday but nothing playing but riverdance (BORING). Have never been to seattle so all ideas gladly welcomed. Oh, one other thing. We're booked with the Warwick (heard it was nice) and we'd like to find a "fantastic Italian place" that's close by there for dinner one night. We want the best Italian Seattle offers. Help us find it. :-)<BR><BR>TYVM

Is this going to be when Riverdance is here next month (2 weeks?) <BR><BR>If so, the Italian choices may change slightly from summer, when the Pink Door's setting (roof garden overlooking the Pike Place Market) makes up for any menu shortcomings. Still pretty nice, though, and can be quite romantic. Ditto Lush Life on 2nd Ave. in Belltown - an attractive place with good food; Assaggio, about a block from your hotel, is highly regarded (lively), as is Il Terazzo Carmine in Pioneer Square (more traditional, excellent). Away from downtown, Sostanza in Madison Park is great, as is Gaspare's at 80th and Lake City Way (unprepossessing neighborhood in north Seattle.) <BR><BR>Actually, Brasserie Margaux right in your hotel is very good, not Italian but French/NW. For outright romantic places, though, also French-ish, Chez Shea in the Market is grand. Tiny place, book ahead.<BR><BR>How about some nice seafood?

I personally always like to visit the Seattle Center when I'm in town. Always something new there it seems.
