going to adirondack area in june looking advice on what to see,where to stay and restaurants

On the way to and from Montreal to NYC,I have liked -Schroon Lake,The Sagamore Hotel& Ausible Gorge.We stayed at the Sagamore last Oct.It is fantastic,we stayed in one of the lodges,with a fireplace, and a terrace overlooking the lake(Lake George).It was incredible.<BR>Ausible Chasm is a fun hike and you can take a boat down the Gorge.<BR>Schroon Lake is a small picture perfect town around a blue lake with houses on the lake and lots of boats.It is a good spot to stop on the way to Canada.<BR>

There's lots to do in and around Lake Placid. Drive up Whiteface Mountain (then hike to the top), High Falls <BR>Gorge, Ausable Chasm. Visit olympic sites, etc. Also, Lake Champlain is beautiful. Perhaps visit Ft. Ticonderoga. Otherwise, pick a lake to stay near, and enjoy the beauty that surrounds you. Have fun.

A stop at the Adirondack Museum. Lots to see and some history, nice gift shop.<BR>If your looking for a thrill ride the Bobslead near Lake Placid.

We are Lake Placid lovers. If $ isn't a concern, the Mirror Lake Inn is beautiful, very elegant.<BR> The Best western Golden Arrow is our favorite. It sits right on Mirror Lake, which is the lake in the town of Lake Placid. They even have a beach area. <BR> If you enjoy brew-sampling, the Lake Placid Brewery & Pub on the back side of the town is fun.<BR> The ski jumps offer year-round elevator rides to the top. Very exciting! And the view! <BR> Someone else has already mentioned my other suggestions: bobsled ride, Ausable Chasm, High Falls Gorge, and Whiteface.<BR> The HIgh Peaks Area is spectacular. Enjoy!

For the Lake Placid area, I would also recommend the Lake Placid Lodge which is right on the shore of Lake Placid (the lake), a 5-10 minute drive outside the actual village of Lake Placid ... a wonderful place to stay in warmer months (although very pricy) ... It really has the feeling of an Adironack lodge in the tradition of the old great camps. I also love the Mirror Lake Inn which is right in the village (on the shores of Mirror Lake). The Best Western Golden Arrow is another good choice right in the heart of the village of Lake Placid right on the shore of Mirror Lake.

The Adirondacks cover a large territory. What part(s) do you think you will travel thru? <BR> <BR>The Adirondack Museum in Blue Mt is very interesting. Also the Great Camp Sagamore in Raquette Lake, not far from Blue Mountain. The peaks in this region are not as impressive as the Lake Placid area, but very "climable" for the average tourist. Mt Goodnow is a fairly easy climb with fantastic views. <BR><BR>If you are into canoeing/kayaking, there are some great waterways to enjoy the sights & sounds of nature. Have you ever heard a loon?
