Week End in Space Coast
 

Hello Leaving from Miami on a Saturday and returning on Monday we want to visit Melbourne, Palm Bay, and those small towns of Titusvelle and Viera. It's worth it, isn't it? I think we would have to spend every night in a different location, right?

St. Augustine and Deland might be more exciting and interesting. According to Lonely Planet Florida guide: “The oldest continuously European settlement in the US, St. Augustine was founded by the Spanish in 1565...Visitors saunter dalong cobbled roads, linger at cute cafes, browse endearing shops, learn about the city’s rich history at countless museums—and cap it all off with snug dinner at lamp-lit restaurants...” The centuries-old buildings, monuments and narrow lanes are authentic in this national historic landmark. Visit the stunning Castillo de San Marcos National Monument, fabled Fountain of Youth, 1703 Conzales-Alvarez House (the second oldest house in America) a 1797 Spanish Mission-style cathedral, and a 1874 lighthouse.Deland is called the Athens of Florida because of Stetson University, Florida’s oldest private university. This Old Florida town has much to offer. The downtown is lively. The Stetson Mansion is the most popular tourist destination in the Sunshine State according to TripAdvisor. The Lonely Planet Guide to Florida (2009) says this about Deland:

“The quaint, walkable Woodland Blvd...is home to independent shops and restaurants—modern yet through small-town. Ancient oaks lean to hug each other over city streets and Spanish moss dribbles from their branches. This is Old Town Florida, and it feels so cozy.” Just 40 minutes east is the Andy Romano Beachfront Park or Lighthouse Park Beach. There are several nature preserves or parks in the county.
