Wedding Weekend in Groton area: Where to eat?

We won't be going to any of the casinos. We'll be meeting friends for one dinner and one breakfast. Any suggestions for great places in Groton, New London, Rocky Neck, Mystic or anywhere in that area?

Thanks! ~Bow

In Groton, if you want Italian go to Paul's Pasta which looks like a place you would not really try but has great pasta. It is right on the river before Electric Boat. They make their own pasta fresh with each order. Don't be put off by the location, do go out on the porch if it is nice and watch the boats on the river

In Mystic I like Daniel Packer Inn, downstairs is more casual, but still good, upstairs a bit more formal. Pretty much standard American cuisine. If you are in for a quick meal the Steak Loft will be fine, has a very nice salad bar steaks, fish, etc. or you can order in the bar.

I'm not a fish person but people seem to like the Fisherman in Noank, Go Fish in Mystic, or Skipper's in Stonington.

In Stonington Burough I like Noah's.

Thank-you, so much! That's exactly the information I was hoping for. One more question, emalloy, and I should have asked the first time: is there a good breakfast place or brunch place in the area? I'm sure the mother of the groom will host a brunch at the hotel, but we might choose to try something more special, perhaps. Any suggestions? Thanks again.

Haven't been in a few years but Octagon at the Mystic Marriott (in groton) was always very very good.

Ok, Thanks.

If you're looking for fancy breakfast, I can't help you, but if you want tasty, interesting I would go to Kitchen Little. It has moved from rt 27 in Mystic to Mason's Island. To get there, take exit 90 off I-95 and head south on 27 past Mystic Seaport, go left when you get to route 1 turn right at the first light (just past Mystic Market) then follow the signs to "marinas, restaurant ". It is in a boat yard and on the second floor of a building that has shops on the first floor. There is table service inside and on the porch overlooking the river/marina.

Kitchen Little sounds perfect! That's what I was hoping for! Thank-you, emalloy.

Kitchen Little is the place to go and the food was fine. Nice outdoor seating on a deck, But be aware that it's always packed (I waited 30 minutes once in January!) and having been featured on the Food Network, it is probably even busier that it was before. Also they were/are compulsive about no substitutions on the orders, like swapping home fries for another side dish on the menu, for example, not like asking for a customized dish. I found it oddly inflexible for a casual breakfast place.

I saw reread emalloy's post and wanted to add that I haven't been to Kitchen Little's new location. Some of the issues mentioned may have been resolved.

Thanks for your feedback, janie.

The specials may be inflexible, but there are choices of everything you might want for breakfast on the menu, just ask for the side you want as an extra. Look at the inside of the menu,

Mother's day it was very busy, but the next time we went we got right in. The new place is larger than the old one, but is not really big.

Sounds good. thanks!

Hi: We were included in the 'Welcome' dinner at Two Wives Pizza in New London. It was delicious!

We ended up having breakfast in the hotel, another hosted meal and a great convenience for us, as it turned out.
