Weather/water conditions on Oahu

We're headed to Oahu in 3 days. I know everyone is concerned about the rain, but my concern is the ocean conditions. I was reading a surf website and it talked about "chocolate water". Is the runoff really that bad?

I know that the windward side was hit especially hard and we're staying in Kailua for 9 days. What is the condition of Kailua beach right now?

TIA!

Does anyone have any info, please?

Conditions at Kailua/Lanikai did improve the week of the 12th as compared to how bad it was the first week of March; however there have been periods of heavy rain since... I will try to find out from some local friends.

Just spoke to my friend on Oahu. She lives about 2 or 3 miles from Kailua Beach. She said it is fine and the weather has not had any impact on it. The only thing she is aware of is that they have been doing some road construction in that area, but says the beach is just fine.

You'll be OK in Kailua.

From nearby Kaneohe to Kahuku is where the island has seen the most rain.

If it does rain in Kailua, drive to Waikiki. It doesn't rain much there.

Good news! Thank you all so much for responding to me. We leave in 2 days and I was beginning to break out into a sweat.

Thanks again!
