weather this week in SF

I am traveling to SF this weekend (Oct 5-6)
What is the weather like? Are you in sweatshirts/sweaters/turtlenecks?

Jen Oct 2nd, 2002 08:19 AM

We're wearing all those things here. It's been a mixture of fog and sun with breezes. It's always cool at night, but can be in the 60's to low 70's during the day. Have a good trip.

Oh, the weather outside is frightful, but the fire is so delightful and since we've no place to go, let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.

Simpkins Oct 2nd, 2002 08:38 AM

Oh, please don't let it snow!!!!

Thanks for the response Jen. I appreciate it.
As usual, the weather in San Francisco will be cold and windy. Why not treat yourself and leave the city for a more relaxing climate. Most experts agree than San Jose has the best climate in the entire country. And it's a short drive from San Francisco. While San Francisco will be shrouded under fog, with whipping winds and highs barely into the 70s (this is California??), San Jose will be sunny, with highs in the 80s!!! So, throw away those sweaters, THIS is California :-)

Simpkins - The high in SF today is supposed to be 70°F, warming up a little bit over the weekend - partly cloudy, partly sunny. SF has a lot of micro-climates, so the temperature could vary quite a bit depending on where you are. Just wear layers like everyone else and you'll be comfortable.

I can promise you it won't snow!

It's an absolutely GORGEOUS day today here in Marin County. Sunny, warm but not too hot, with the prospect of a fall-crisp evening ahead.

Hello Simpkins,

No doubt you've heard that layering is the best way to go in S.F., and that will be true this weekend, like any other.

Today it's sunny, very windy this morning, and warm (71 or so). The morning forecast called for a warming trend towards the weekend. We're hoping for our proverbial "summer in October". Although fog in the mornings is always possible, the heavy summer fog pattern is over for the season.

Bring a short sleeve shirt, a long sleeved shirt, a sweater and a lightweight jacket. Chinos, jeans, or lightweight wool slacks for the bottom half.

Check www.weather.com It gives you 10 days forecast in F and C.

For this weekend in SF highs should be in the low 70's during the day with lows in the mid 50's at night. Dressing in layers is always a good idea however, in the fall the microclimates aren't as prevalent as they are in the summer. Have a great trip.
