Weather question for Vegas residents or those who visited recently....

I'm going to Vegas for Christmas, as I do every year, but just wanted to double check. I always check the weather reports online, but am not sure of how REALLY cold it is--sometimes it feels warmer than I expect. So: what's the weather like right now? Is it eskimo-coat weather, or can I get away with a leather jacket and a scarf?

Leather Jacket and scarf should do just fine for walking between hotels on the stip. The annoying part is how hot the casinos are during the winter, so dress in layers!

Right now at 4 pm it is cold. The thermometor reads 50 degrees but it feels much colder.

If you think you will be comfortable in a jacket/scarf when the temp is 44F and it's windy, ok. That is the temp forecast for tonight at 8PM and "feels like" 38F. Definitely layers, bring a sweater, hat.

But for a woman from Hawaii, I would recommend bringing a coat, maybe not an eskimo one, tho.

See, I think I might do the eskimo coat. I have a ski jacket with a removeable furry hood.

Oh, trippin, I wish you were coming, too!!! I'll be staying downtown. and I'm getting upgraded, with some appropriate fodorite perks.

Next October, maybe....?

Hi Melissa - as the others have siad, its been chilly the last week or so. Highs for the last several days have been around 50 degrees and the lows have been in the mid 30's to low 40's. We have also been pretty breezy so that adds to the chill factor. There does not seem to be much change in the forecast for the next ten days which is fairly close to Christmas.

Are we going to try to get together for a glass or cup while you're here?

Don

It depends what your used to. If you live in a place with warm weather you will be a little cold (since it is chilly this time of year) but if your from a cold place like canada you should be fine and you will think the weather is perfect

I am just back from another Christmas in Vegas. Again, though, while it is chilly outside, inside the casinos it is downright hot. Annoying to half to hold your big jacket while you gamble. Same thing for the shops. And how much time do you really spend outdoors anyway?
