Weather Or Not
We are gong to San Francisco to see family mid June and were planning to go down to Carmel and that area for 3 days. How is the weather that time of year. I am hearing possible fog??
Also we are thinking of the following places to stay and can use some suggestions. Seven Gables Inn Monterey Plaza Hotel Hotel Pacific Old Monterey Inn Tickle Pink Inn Highland Inn - a Park Hyatt Resort We like an ocean view but prefer a place with a balcony. Never been to this part of California before and would apprecitate help. |
Hi Linda,
We stayed at the Tickle Pink Inn last October... absolutely wonderful... perfect hilltop ocean view... you can hear the crashing surf below... daily wine & cheeze reception... splurge for the fireplace, jacuzzi suite...more details on my trip report: http://www.fodors.com/forums/threads...p;tid=34452270 |
Maikal. Thanks for the quick response. Wonder how the weather will be in June. The Tickle Pink Inn looks great. Do they do anything special for birthdays? Also do the rooms have patios and decks? Is it Ocean view??
Were you in room 31. How were the prices?? Thanks for your help and by the way liked your trip report. Your itenerary will help us when we go. |
Unfortuantely both SF and Carmel will be fogged in for most of time while youe are there. I live in SF so we often look for daytrips to other places that don't have the persistent fog. Usually we head down to San Jose for the day to explore the city and at least see the sunshine which in SF is kind of a commodity in June, July, and August. Have you also thought about Yosemite or Lake Tahoe?

Hi Linda,
Thanks, we really enjoyed that trip... Tickle Pink rates are posted on their website, ticklepinkinn.com. I believe that the rate for the fireplace suite was approx. $400 w/ AAA. You may want to call for discounted rates. Yes, we did stay in Rm 31... best view on the property! The lanai is kind of wraparound, as the suite is floor to ceiling glass shaped like a large bow. On the lanai are 2 lovely wood chairs, a small side table and 2 large cushioned chaise lounges. We spent hours (literally!) on the lanai. The view is undescribable... birds flying by... crashing surf... really a treat. The location is also nice, just a little south of Carmel, in the highlands, and really just on the edge of Big Sur. Part of the view is Point Lobos... don't miss exploring there! I'm not sure about weather in June... it might be a little foggy. You might try a new post w/ a title more descriptive to your question... many will bypass vaguely titled posts. You might get a better response. Also do a search of Monterey / Carmel on the forum and you'll be able to read much great info from other posts. Happy planning! |
Seven Gables Inn -- great location, with views out across the bay.
Monterey Plaza -- very centrally located, adjacent to the 2 wharves, shopping, dining, and downtown Monterey is an easy walk. Rooms are large, and nicely furnished. Hotel Pacific -- just slightly off the beaten path; more "boutique" than the Monterey Plaza. Old Monterey Inn -- nice Tickle Pink -- fabulous views, but you'll need to drive if you want to tour Monterey/Carmel/Pt. Lobos. But the views (and sunsets) are exquisite!! Highland Inn -- next door to Tickle Pink, and much pricier (and a wee bit snootier, too). Having lived on Monterey Bay for the past 20 years, I can tell you that June may -- or may not -- be foggy. Either way, the fog typically burns off by noon anyway. Have a great time! |
