weather on south padre island in November?

I will be taking a little extra time on a business trip to McAllen and heading for the beach. can anyone tell me what the weather is like around the middle of November on South Padre island, barring a hurricane, of course? thank you!

I actually prefer to go to South Padre in the fall. There's no guarantee that the weather will be warm enough to swim, but it is a possibility. It's nice to get away from work and walk the beaches without the crowds.

And I have been there during a hurricane (a small one)!

We were down there for a few days each of the last two Novembers. One time it was warm and I got a little sunburn, the second time it ws windy and a little cooler, but I still swam in the gulf.

Have fun!

Thank you for the information. I want to walk on the beach, put my toes in the water, and eat good seafood. I'm from Oregon, where the ocean can never be swam in--too coooold, so I will probably think the gulf is like bathwater!

Another neat thing about South Padre Island - years ago we were there and drove up to an area where we could actually drive on the beach. Its a great spot. We are going to stay on North Padre Island this winter.

We were there in March a few years ago and had lots of rain but still enjoyed the area..
www.weatherunderground.com has a neat section on "travel planning"
you type in a week or two when you plan to be in the area--It averages out the types of weather you may encounter..it reports to be right 90% of the time..
Of course my favorite is the 5-7 day extended forcast..helps me plan what to take, as I am notorious for overpacking.
Hope this helps..

It does help, thank you. I love the 5-7 day forecast, too. I'm just looking ahead now to see if it's worth staying on the beach. sounds like a definite yes.
