Weather in NY

Hi,
I was just wondering what the weather is like in late August. I am planning a trip Aug. 23rd - 31st. Also, where do I go to find out what events are going on at that time. Free concerts, movie premiers, or anything! Thanks.

Late August will be hot and humid with temps in the upper 80's and the 90's generally.

I would suggest getting a NY Magazine in your area at a local news stand, or try the website.

Also try www.nyctourist.com for lots of ideas, and listings of street fairs held every weekend.

Assuming you mean New York city...it is typically HOT and HUMID at that time of summer with decent chance for rain.

For what's happening..try

It's hot (last year was unusually hot, while we were there we spent 4 days in 90-100 degree heat) BUT; museums, stores and restaurants have ac so you can deal with the heat and plan accordingly.

August is humid. You may be lucky and get temps in the 80's but 90's are likely and it goes over 100 at least a couple of times most summers.

Be prepared to carry water with you, take cooling breaks and do at least some things on the water.

NYC in late August is brutally hot and humid - you will always want a bottle of water with you.

Many people leave town for the last two weeks of August, right before school reopens, so the City is typically very quiet. Most of the big "summer stuff" like Shakespeare in the Park and Lincoln Center's Midsummer Night Swing run in June and July.

TimeOut NY and NYMagazine will have listings of what's going on. TONY will have a better listing of free and low cost events than NYM.
