Weather in Memphis in mid-November
 

We are tentatively planning a trip to visit family in the Tri-Cities TN area in mid November. Husband and I would like to stop and tour Memphis on the way to Bristol. I was interested in taking our son who will be 18 mos to the Memphis Zoo if the weather is agreeable. We'd also like to walk around Beale St. Is the weather unpredictable in November or will it be dry and cool? It seems like I remember the weather in the Bristol area being in the 50's during Nov, but clearly Memphis is on the opposite side of Tenn.

Memphis is slightly warmer on average than the Tri-Cities, since the Tri-Cities are at higher elevation. 50s is a good bet. You might hit rain, might not - it's not monsoon season or anything, but it is fall.

Thanks, that is kind of what I expected in regards to weather. Any ideas on family friendly restaurants in downtown area?

Sorry, not many - hopefully others can help you out. Normally when I'm in Memphis I'm visiting family in the suburbs. We did eat at the Spaghetti Warehouse close to the Orpheum once - food was good, although service was incredibly slow (although this was several years ago and we had a huge group). My brother really likes the Barbecue Shop; it's on Madison in midtown, so fairly close to the zoo if you get to go there.

Huey's downtown is family-friendly, though our one experience there wasn't particulary great. As I recall they have plastic utensils. They're famous for their hamburgers. There are restaurants in Peabody Place that are family-friendly, too, but we don't eat there often enough to know what they are. There's a TGI Friday's in the Doubletree Hotel that would be okay, too, if chain food is what you're looking for.

I assume you're staying downtown since you've asked about restaurants there. I can highly recommend the Marriott Residence Inn. It has nice rooms with full kitchens and very good free breakfasts. It's within walking distance of everything downton

Thanks Susan. Yes we are planning to stay downtown. One of our primary reasons for the stop is because my husband wants to see the Gibson Guitar Factory so we want to be within walking distance so that I can take our son back to the room if necessary. If the weather and son are agreeable I wouldn't mind checking out the zoo, but if not I would definitely like to take him to see the Peabody Ducks.

For the Marriott Residence Inn, would advance reservations be necessary if we are there during the week in mid November?
