Weather in Italy
 

Whatcan I expect if I am going to Italy in late Sept. and early Oct.Some have told me I'll need to take warm weather clothing as well as cooler weather clothing.Also, does one need an umbrella? AAl suggestions appreciated.

You posted on the wrong forum. But, here's a response anyway:
Many (including the locals) consider that period the best time of the year to visit Italy. Yes, the weather will be warm. Umbrella? Always take a small travelling one. It doesn't take up much room and it's good insurance.

The weather should be marvellous! Not cold at all.

If it rains, all the street vendors selling crucifixes and t-shirts miraculously change those items into umbrellas, for about 5 euro.

I would never go to any part of europe at any part of the year without a folding umbrella. And esp in the fall and spring rain is more likely - just as any other temperate climate. (It's not the Sahara - where it rains once every 10 years!)

Last time I visited Italy in late Sept. / Early Oct. it was mid 70's to 80 every day. (Palermo), ranging down to 50's and rainy in Cortina.

Italy is a big country, north to south is about the same distance from NY to Jacksonville.

It'll all depend on where you're going.

We will be in Rome and Tuscany--Sienna,and Florence.
