We took the Seattle Duck tour!
fter living in the Seattle area for 46 years we decided to be tourists and take the duck tour. It was a ball! Weather was perfect, of course...low 70's while the rest of the nation sweltered, nice blue sky. Our driver was a lady whose nom-de-Duck was Captain Helen Wheels (yuk yuk). She did a wonderful job of keeping everyone entertained and informed....she has snippets of taped music to fit every occasion; when we drove down the boat ramp into Lake Union she played the theme from "Jaws." I had never heard, and never would have recognized, the theme music for SpongeBob Squarepants, but she had every kid on the duck singing it.
Come to Seattle, ride the duck! |
did one in dc over the 4th...very cute, informative and fun! Just what my 'getting cranky' family needed! Highly recommend and will do again next time we see one!
|
I've taken the duck also, it's quippy and a little obnoxious but cute.
Bob, if you haven't already, I recommend checking out the Underground Tour. I've been on it 4-5 times so far and enjoy it each time. |
I was born and raised in Phila. and last summer decided to take the Duck tour when my nephew was fisiting from Florida. We had a blast. I actually learned at least one new thing about my city after all these years!

"Touristing" in your own city is always a great experience. I look forward to out-of-town guests so that I can view my own city through a visitor's eyes. Always enlightening.

lol, we did the duck in Chicago and it was very silly, but definitely fun, especially quacking at the other tour groups! I still have my quacker, btw.
|
Thanks for the post. I see the Duck sometimes going thru downtown. I'll put it on my "to do" list next time I have guests in town. Thanks!

I love to play a tourist in San Francisco, where I live. Didn't do a duck tour, but those ducks seem to invade every city on the water!
Seattle, San Francisco, Chicago, Boston... where else? |
They have a Duck tour in Montreal.
It sounds like great fun :) |
I rode the Duck in Branson, Missouri. It was a hoot.
Followed it a year later with the Duck in Boston, which was much less fun. Keith |
Driving down Stockton Street through San Francisco Chinatown a few weeks ago I passed a Duck and it was causing so much traffic because it could barely fit passed the Muni bus. I thought the locals were going to throw their Dim Sum at the driver.
It was very funny!!! |
Who the Duck cares! :-)
(just kidding, of course. glad you had fun in your hometown) |
