I'll be comming to DC from San Jose Ca. I will be meeting my daughter from Toronto Ontario Ca. we will be attending the Alzhimers forum. We will be staying at the Hilton Garden Inn on 14th street.
I've heard alot about blue crab?? Where is a good place to enjoy?

Crab season will just be getting started , so the crabs will be smallish (and expensive).

Nonetheless, a worthwhile effort if you are only in the area once!

The best crab places are all at least an hours drive from downtown DC and require a car - the best are on the waterfront that pulls the crabs right from the dock to the kitchen. Here is a list of crab houses:

If you are relying on public transit, your best bet is Bethesda Crab House - about 8 blocks from the Bethesda Metro station.

My favorite is the DRIFT INN (see crab houses website above).

Bethesda Crab House is a good suggestion. Just be prepared that it is really limited in terms of menu. It is for serious crab picking. Call first and reserve your crabs -- ask them what they have that evening and tell them what you want and approximately when you'll be there. Then they'll set them aside for you so they won't sell out.

Crabs are projected to be in short supply this summer, so they will be pricey -- bardo is right.

If you want to make an evening out of it, get a car for a day and head out to a place like Cantler's near Annapolis. It's a great riverside setting with crab wells on the dock, plus you could swing through Annapolis coming or going, which is a nice side trip.

Bethesda Crab House has decent crabs but little atmosphere, which is a big part of the crab experience. But it will do in a pinch.

Well...blue crabs are local. In addition, look for anything made with crab. Ben's Chili Bowl is a local landmark. It is on U street near 13th. Also, we have a very large and vibrant Ethiopian population, so you should try one of our Ethiopian restaurants.
