We have no clue where to go

We are going on our honeymoon Dec 30-Jan 5. I know , it is the worst time to try to book a place. We only have 6 nights and we are flying from Texas. Any suggestions on nice place on a nice beach, rooms with a private pool or jacuzzi that won't take 2 days to get there?

What about San Diego? Or even a nice resort in Mexico? Continental flies directly since the hub is in Houston so it shouldn't take you too long to go from there.

Congrats on your wedding, or upcoming wedding.

A couple of suggestions...
Orlando. Come see Walt Disney World. There is so much to see and do here that you could fill 6 nights easily.

Cruise. Most cruises on the east coast leave out of Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, Tampa or Port Canaveral. And cruising is the best. And in December you can probably get some good rates. They have cruises for 3, 4, 5 and 7 nights. All inclusive except drinks and shore excursions. My favorite type of vacation, just show up drop off your bags and enjoy.

California. Monterey is simply awesome. Take a drive up the Pacific Coast highway, from Los Angeles to Monterey and then on to San Fransisco.

Hope this helps.

You haven't given us much to go on other than you want a nice place on a nice beach. By that do you mean you want to stay in the US or are you willing to go outside the country? Also, what is your budget for accomodations, food and travel (presumabably by air)?

You should know that late December/early January is smack dab in the middle of "high season" at most warm weather destinations so expect to pay high prices and limited availability since many resorts are booked a year in advance for the Christmas/New Years holidays. Also, to make things a bit more difficult many resorts have minimum stay requirements (7, 10 or 14 day) stay requirements.

With all that in mind it's not impossible to find something but rather just that it might take more time and effort on your part as many suggestions you get on this forum may not be able to accomodate you at this late date.

If you want to stay in the US and would like a beach vacation try looking at resorts in South Florida - perhaps even in the Florida Keys. Also, you don't say where in Texas you are travelling from but you can reach Cancun, Cozemel, Costa Rica, Belize, and most major islands in the Caribbean non-stop 6 hours or less from either Houston or DFW.

Timyvonne,

did you want to SWIM at the beach? I don't think at the lovely beach in San Diego, you can do that in winter.

Angelo- where's the beach in Orlando? what's your favorite cruise line with a private pool? San Francisco has a nice beach, but it's too cold to swim there in the summer.

Acapulco!

Have you checked into Costa Rica? The Peace Lodge is over the top - waterfall shower in the bathtub, private jacuzzi, etc. We also loved Bosque del Cabo. CR is only about a 3 hour flight from Texas; US dollars are widely accepted, and English is widely spoken.

Friends of ours went to Makanda by the Sea in Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica and loved it. Also have friends that enjoyed Playa del Carmen, Mexico.

We went to Maui, but given your short time frame, I'd rule it out. If you could eek out a few more time, it's really nice.

meant few more days - sorry!

How about Playa del Carmen which is south of Cancun. Shouldn't be more than 2.5 hours flight time from pretty much anywhere in Texas. Lots of nice all-inclusives as well as luxury resorts. We spent 4 nights at an Iberostar hotel for our honeymoon and really enjoyed ourselves. Just remember in Mexico, passports are now required.

Two hotels to try that usually get good reviews are the Royal Hideaway and the El Dorado Royale. Most of these places have packages for 4 and 5 nights.

You could take a 5 day cruise out of Miami. The new NCL Pearl leaves from there and if you can swing the best rooms they have a jacuzzi in them. Other than that there is Dominican Republic like Excellence which has Jacuzzi's in the room as well. Flying time shouldn't be to bad from Texas. Check applevacations.com for some ideas. San Diego is lovely but the beach will not be swimmable. If you just want to walk try La Jolla if you want to stay in the u.s. Florida Keys is another place. Or Puerta Vallarta.

What about the Cayman Islands. I think there are direct flights from Texas, doesn't take too long. Gorgeous beaches, lots to do, great honeymoon spot.

Where in Texas?
How about Amuleto in Zihuatanejo? Better get moving on this one! It could be difficult to find something available!
