WDW over Thanksgiving

Call us nuts but we're looking at doing Orlando over Thanksgiving week - flying out on the 19th and returning on the 27th. Have a villa available so we'd not be staying on property. I'm a Disney fan but have never been there over a holiday. With two teens along, we're thinking that the wine festival at epcot would be ok; going out to Cape Canaveral for a full day, maybe driving up to Gainesville to visit the university and just relaxing a bit. Any idea on temps, precip to expect? We do have parkhopper tickets left from the last trip so would be able to do a quick hit at a couple of parks if crowds are too huge. Thanks

Late November 79 degrees for the high, 58 for the low. But keep in mind they could have a cold snap. We had to have winter coats on one year. It was really cold.

Rainfall avg is 2.3 inches.

The week after labor day thru Thanksgiving is labled "least crowded". As well as week after Thanksgiving through the week before Xmas. Thanksgiving week is average attendance.

Several years ago we were at Disneyland on Thanksgiving Day and it was not crowded at all.

Two years ago we were at DisneyWorld for 4 days leading up to Christmas Eve. We did not find it to be overly crowded - although it was one of the coldest winters they were having - 35 degrees at night!!

I wouldn't worry to much about the crowds. I think it is much less crowded than in the summer.

We went to Disney over Thanksgiving and it was great. (no lines)

Plus you will get to see the two sides of Disney, the day of and before Thanksgiving, the whole place is decorated "normal Disney" the day after Thanksgiving, everything, magically and overnight is Christmas Disney!

Disclaimer: It has been a few years, but this is how I recall it...

A friend and I were just talking about Disney over Thanksgiving week just this afternoon. She said her family went two years ago just before Thanksgiving. Their last day there was the day before Thanksgiving. She said the Christmas decorations were already up for their visit. She also said the parks weren't busy until their last day, Wednesday, when there were about 3x as many people as there had been the preceding days.

Tourism in Florida was strongly affected by the events of 9/11. Attendance at all the theme parks was down considerably for several years after that tragic event. I'm sure that many of the previous posters visited the parks during that time, however, it is not the case now. Attendance is way up, so expect large crowds on the Thanksgiving weekend. If you go to the parks just before the weekend you should be fine - crowds will be sparse.

The weather in November is usually really nice - highs in the 70s. Just bring a sweater and a pair of long pants in case it hits the 60s. Not much rain at that time of year.
